Never saw it posted earlier, so lock if it was, of course

Haralabos Voulgaris ( https://twitter.com/haralabob ) is one of the best in NBA betting in US and he was active in that business back in 07. He made excellent article with a lot of vids about Rockets game at Orlando, when Tim Donaghy was trying to fix it and made 18 calls overall, 16 of them were in Magic favour and some of them were just horrendous

"despite Donaghy’s best efforts - he actually lost this bet as Houston went on to win the game 97-93 - mainly on the strength of 10 more 3 point makes."

Is good 3 point shooting the secret to beating the opponent and the refs?

Of the thousands of times I've complained about refs at least I was right once!

David Stern, a great American. From Wikipedia:

On June 10, 2008, Donaghy's attorney filed a court document alleging, among other things, that Game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings was fixed by two referees. The letter states that Donaghy "learned from Referee A that Referees A and F wanted to extend the series to seven games. Tim knew Referees A and F to be 'company men', always acting in the interest of the NBA, and that night, it was in the NBA's interest to add another game to the series."[39] The Lakers won Game 6, attempting 18 more free throws than the Kings in the fourth quarter, and went on to win the 2002 NBA Finals. The teams were not named, but the Western Conference Finals was the only seven-game series that year.[40] The document claimed that Donaghy told federal agents that to increase television ratings and ticket sales, "top executives of the NBA sought to manipulate games using referees".[39] It also said that NBA officials would tell referees to not call technical fouls on certain players, and states that a referee was privately reprimanded by the league for ejecting a star player in the first quarter of a January 2000 game.[39] Stern denied the accusations, calling Donaghy a "singing, cooperating witness".[40]

Yeah that Sacramento series was a no doubt fix. You could probably say the same for the Miami Dallas finals. Those stand out as glaring.

Stern will always be a piece of sh**. I wouldn't be surprised if he still does it today, just a little smarter about it. Donaghy said he wasn't the only ref pulling BS calls in games. Keep in mind the NBA didn't fire a SINGLE ref after donaghy went to jail. They are still reffing in games today. Someone commented earlier that perimeter shots were the only way to really beat biased reffing. If your knocking down rediculous 3s that would be the only way, and in the age of youtube and replays, refs have to be more careful. Of course this doesn't stop them from making some stupid calls on ridiculous fouls that never occurred. Or calling fouls where none truly existed. A good indicator would unfortunately be the subjective eye-test, and taking a look at how many fouls one team got compared to the other. Like some Miami heat games, or lakers games. You'd see some ridiculous 3:1 fouls called when the opponents were playing just as passive OR aggressive as the lakers or heat. I'm not saying their the only two teams that get it, but their definitely the easiest to spot.

Nothing has been changed. Stern is a company man.
