Why is this even discussed, are you seriously going to tell me a female is allowed to play in the NBA?
55 year old Kevin Mchale would beat her 10-0. Any guy that played college basketball at any level would beat her This is obviously a huge marketing ploy. She might be able to play on a guys high school team, but even then wouldn't be that great
I really doubt she can handle the strength of an NBA player; however, this is actually an act that makes me respect Cuban a little. I know he is just attention whoring as usual, but giving Griner this chance is admirable.
She can't compete. Would get destroyed. Reminds me somewhere of Serena williams facing like the 200th ranked male tennis played and getting romped.
I suppose there's the outside chance that she's good enough at shooting 3s? most great WNBA players can hit 3s at insane rates. granted I'm pretty sure they'll get blocked a lot if playing against guys. But in theory, she might be a different type of Steve Novak type I guess.
If anything, this is guaranteed to be a business success. They'll sell out all of their summer league games.
Publicity stunt. Wasn't this done before a long time ago but the draft/signing was voided because it was ruled a publicity stunt?
Again, no disrespect, but I've always asked myself why you never see Brittney and Tayshaun Prince in the same place...
Wow I would laugh hysterically if Cuban wastes a draft pick on her. No one else will draft her, so just sign her as a FA. This could be epic! Got my popcorn for draft night
I think it is kinda funny that all yall dudes are like she'll get destroyed. I've seen plenty of chicks on the playground school dudes. Britney Griner would destroy any of yall in any game related to basketball. cappie pondexter ain't even close to griner's level and she is schooling talfair. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mGqcLQTEDZw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I don't think that is true. I played basketball at Lamar. Its a D1 school in the southland conference. She would probably beat me, I'm 6'1 she is 6'7, we probably wouldn't be able to check each other. However, there is absolutley no way she could make it in the nba. Diana Taurasi would have better shot, since she can hit a jumper.
I don't know man...I went to SFA back in the mid-90's when the women's team was making runs in the NCAA tournament. They would play pickup games in the rec center during the offseason and would get destroyed by the guys in the gym. Granted, they weren't Brittney Griner types of talent, but they were playing against guys like me that never played beyond high school. I'm not a post player, but I could post them up and score anytime I wanted. You put Griner in against real NBA talent, and there is no way she can compete. I'm confident she'd get embarrassed.
I'm not saying Griner can make it in the NBA. However, what I will say is: how many d1 men's basketball programs would have benefited from Britney Griner had she been eligible to play in college dudes. Really, jumping from women to the pros is like going to the moon, but I firmly believe that Griner would have been a star in the men's division 1 school.
The Rockets should draft Griner to be our next undersized power forward, then trade her to the Kings for DeMarcus Cousins
