You are wasting your time, all Pgabrial looks at is stats, he does not see the intangibles like positioning, shot selection, team play etc. DD
Now, Maurice Taylor vs. Eddie Griffin: Offense: Maurice is so far ahead of Eddie offensively it's not funny. He can post up, shoot a jump hook, take players off the dribble, and most importantly he knows where to be on the court (i.e.: NOT standing around the three point line). If he gets the ball out of position, he doesn't force shots like Eddie. Eddie's only post move is a flat turnaround jumper. Both players are black holes on offense... Rebounding: The only aspect of the game where Eddie has a significant advantage. Griffin has over a 3 rebound/48 minute advantage. Thier offensive rebounding numbers, however, are strikingly similar... Defense: Don't confuse Griffin's blocks as good defense. He's a good weakside shot blocker, but overall is a poor post defender. Neither he nor Taylor get very physical in the low post, and often let other power forwards get by off the dribble Contract: THIS is where it gets dicey. Taylor clearly has a bad contract, so the Rockets are "stuck with him" for lack of a better term. Griffin's rookie wage scale and untapped potential make him a better commodity.
Mo actually got 11 rebounds against Detroit two days ago. But he really isn't a consistent rebounding threat. His offense is starting to really take off. In 2001 he was our first quarter offense and then dissappeared and now it seems he's our fourth quarter monster!
Who played the 4th quarter, pgabriel, Mo or Griffin? And who carried the team during their run in the 4th? I mean, I'm one of the few around here right now who's still a Griffin fan, so you know I was happy last night. But I refuse to diminish Mo and how well he's playing right now. I just hope the 2-headed PF monster continues to roar.
Thank you, once again we agree, on everything, although I would rate that weak side defense a little higher than you do.
I'm not diminishing Mo, This is the main problem, Mo is not a good passer, he tries to pass, but he makes dumb decisions, with Mo in the starting line up, you now have 3 guys who need the ball to create their offense, its bad enough that our starting two needs the rock to create, when all three of them are in the game at the same time, you are effectively squeezing out one of them out of the offense, and maybe even two players.
I think the rebounds per game as a team will not drop too much if Mo starts, since some of the Eddie's rebounds were "stolen" from Yao...
Mo's not a good passer????? He's the second best passer on the team after Yao. He's an extrmely underrated passer and plays smart. So you think griffin is a better passer and smarter? Give me a break. His D is actually very underrated this year.
When they're throwing single coverage at you in the post, and you're raining in jump hooks from the lane, why pass it? MoT passed then they doubled quick. We need better spacing, though, to nail an open J.
I think last night proved that the current lineups CAN work as long as everyone in the forward position is motivated and works hard. Both the starters and Mo contributed quite a bit... Posey had the 4 steals, Griffin had a few early points as well as his rebounding and a block, and Mo of course had that unstoppable hook in the 4th. As long as we get this consistent output from all 3, I'd say keep the starters like they are. I like Mo as the 4th quarter owner and the more minutes Griffin plays I figure the more we'll get out of him in the long run. As far as how they each match up on defense, well, mismatches are the NBA for you. Each must play to his strengths and give 100% on both ends and it should work out like it did in Toronto.
Ridamndiculous You give me a break, how exactly is a guy who averages 1 assist a game a good passer. Exactly as many as Griffin. Just the facts mam, just the facts.
Actually Mo is a good passer. He plays the post the way Yao should play it. If the ball comes to him and he is single covered, he goes strong and takes the shot. As soon as he is double teamed, he dishes it off to the open man for an easy shots. He doesn't get the assist numbers because he is not double that much and our outside shooters are so inconsistent.
Actually, he's not, he's best season, the year before the Rockets traded for him, his average was 1.6. That's his best year as a player in this league, in his best season, 1. freakin 6 assists. He's not a good passer.
Just because you're not getting assists doesn't mean you're not a good passer. Yao Ming is only getting 1.6 assists a game this season. What are you saying about Yao?
Furthermore, Dream averaged 2.5 assists for his career, never averaging more than 3.5+ for a season. You think Dream wasn't a good passer out of the post? You need to watch the action and not the stats.
So I guess now you're going to tell me you have seen Taylor make some of those unbelievable behind the back passes that Yao has made. There is nothing you can say to prove Mo Taylor's a good passer, not specific instances, not stats, and like I said that was Mo T's best season
2 times in the game against Detroit Mo T passed the ball to Cato on a cut, both times great passes, both fumbles by Cato. Mo has good vision....and he is a MUCH better passer then EG. DD
Let me see, Francis 6 assist, bad passer, Mo Taylor 1 assist, good passer. That seems about right. Mo Taylor's not a good passer, the only time he even attempts to pass is when he has absolutely no other option, the guy averaged 1.6 his best year as a pro, his best assist average, this point is not even arguable.
