Saddam executes 10,000 people a year. How many threads have you dedicated to that?

I'm for war, but on the flip side, imagine if suddenly the U.S. were invaded from the North with one of these Shock and invade attacks.

Scary to be a civilian in Iraq right now. I'd be outta there at any cost.

Is anybody seeing the option for peace? It doesn't even seem to be on the road map right now. It's basically down to we invade with support or we invade without it. I don't hear the administration say one damn thing about peace. It's not even an option. This kind of hard line neogtiating will only lead to war.

It is a good thing that our government and our military disagree with you. Defending ourselves would be impossible using your value system.

    Example- Hiroshima.

Example- We prove that Saddam is near completion of a nuclear bomb, and the targeted military complex is located in a densely populated residential area (a very likely scenario). Clearly, we must protect ourselves against this threat against OUR civilians at the expense of Iraqi civilians.

Cohen, I understand your idealism, but the real world requires that we make tough choices. This means that we value our citizen's lives above any other life FOR THE PURPOSES OF NATIONAL SECURITY DISCUSSIONS.

Now, if you are making a moral argument, that is a totally different topic.

Johnheath you statements are absolutely incredible. You are saying that your life as an American is more important and more worth than others!?!? That explains lots about you.

Also Johnhearth where did you come up with the idea that Iraq intends to attack US? This war is not a question of your NATIONAL SECURITY. It's an excuse for people like you.

wait, wait, wait...in fairness to him...he makes a distinction from this being a moral discussion to one strictly based on national security. i don't think he's advocating a position here at all...just saying that when policy makers are discussing national security, their job one is to defend american lives.

To defend them form whom? You are defending your self by going to the other side of the world and starting a war. You intend to attack out of precaution. Inspectors are there and Iraq is disarming, but you don’t want to wait because…. the treat is to big?

Well, when there has been some evidence of Iraq' link to Al-Qaeda, you can certainly understand how someone would see Saddam as a threat to our national security.

    I gotcha back johnheath. :)
