you must be kidding, he is but a poor man's version of a Toney Douglas all his brings is energy, face up defense and zero weak side help ... brings the ball up to front court very fast but stops only to pass, then stands still in the same spot hoping someone will pass him the ball ... one or two highlihgt plays may be, shhh ... Toney had many of those too
Use Pat or AB situation-ally depending if you need more offense or defense but right now, AB needs some burn first. Using him as he is, I don't think it's wise. Gauge him first.
Exactly and what did Lowry do while he was a Rocket? Got better. The same will happen for the unbelievable one.
AB is a one trick pony whose only trick is to be able to shoot the ball. Beyond that, he is a subpar passer, crap defender, and subpar finisher. AB was a MIP because he got more minutes. If you took a look BEYOND the box score, you would see that he barely improved. His production scaled with increased playing time. There is a reason why he never got his starting job back. There is a reason why we traded him to the Suns. There is a reason why he never cut it with the Suns and after coming back from China, was only able to sign with the Kings. ANY TEAM that has to rely on AB as a PRIMARY OR SECONDARY option is in huge trouble, which we were seeing as we didn't even make the playoffs.
Pat Bev shoots 40% from the 3 point line and from the field... I would say that's a decent shooting percentage my friend.
Beverley is definitely a better all around player than Brooks. Brooks is probably a better scorer, and that's it. So there is really no need to play Brooks when both Lin and Beverley are healthy. That said, on some nights when everybody is struggling with his shooting, throwing Brooks out there to jump start the offense might not be a bad idea.
sample size, If he really is that good of a 3pt shooter he needs to be putting up every 3 he catches.
Defensively, yes. That much is obvious. Running the offense though, I don't think so. He really brings nothing offensively aside from a decent spot up 3. AB on the other hand, can run an offense fine ( still not a strong point of his by far, neither of them are exceptionally good at it ) and brings much more to the table. On a second unit that is pretty much void of any offensive threats, he is certainly one. Its not like ab doesn't have a good shot from range, he holds the franchise record for most in a season, proved himself in the playoffs against some solid competition, and shoots a decent percentage.
Currently? Yes, even though Lee is injured right now, he was capable of playing multiple positions and defending, Kevin Martin can score thanks to getting to the free throw line and occasionally shooting beyond the arc, he isn't that dynamic of a scorer that he is much better then a star player.
I don't know which AB you are talking about. All Brooks had was his long range shooting and quick speed against slow PGs. On a day he couldn't make his shot, He brought nothing else to the table.
it's hard to assess whether bev can run the offense, as he's primarily used as a momentum changer/ defensive presence right now. if he were to start, it'd be hard for him to keep up that kind of energy or intensity. put it this way, if parsons or harden were injured (e.g. orlando), AB/Lin would be the better choice at PG. however, if we were leaking defensively/lack of energy in the 4th, beverley would be the best option.
To me Beveley definitely can bring energy and spark. He looks like a good defender because he acts like. He may look a better defender because of his exaggerated movement .
