Here's a question: Is Yao Ming tradeable? If so for whom?

    My personal opinion is no.

The only player's in my mind that would qualify are:

Shaquille O'Neal: 31 yrs old. Can get slightly better, at best, but is looking like he will only be around for 3-5 years.

Kevin Garnett: Great player, but I haven't ever seeing him having the "it" quality, and he's had over 6 years to prove himself.

Kobe Bryant: Unbelieveable player. But we saw what happens w/o Shaq. Nuff said. In the NBA, a good center should always be taken over a good guard.

I'm sorry, but, much to you naysayers, Hakeem was always more valuable to the Rox, than MJ ever would be.

(ie. nobody would take spud webb over otis thorpe... even though spud obviously had more talent. In B-ball size will always matter!)

Tracy McGrady: Someone I would honestly take over Kobe. But yet again, see above.

Yao simply has the most potential right now and is not tradeable for anyone in the league. He is "The Man"

(Devil's advocate: So was Ralph Sampson at one point)

But they've said that Sampson's legs were always a problem.

    Doesn't seem true about Yao's.

    Your thoughts?

Yeah Yao Ming's untradable at this moment because even we're given a player with similar talent and potential in return (if there's one), the move would be a PR disaster considering the hype he's getting and the tickets he's selling. Vince Carter at one time was also that untradable. Lebron James will soon become the untradable player of this league.

I'd do it, if it meant the Rockets could reacquire Dan Langhi.

Think outside the box. Trade Yao for Shaq AND Kobe, no big deal.

Only if they throw in Horry.....did you see the shot he made tonight with 2 ticks on the clock? Damn Lakers always find ways to win at the end while we always find ways to lose......:(

I'd trade him for Earl Boykins. :)

Then we'd have a true point guard.

I thought originally that Yao was a huge mistake. However, he has made a believer out of me.

I don't see any good reason to trade YAO for the next 2 years unless he won't resign with us (which I think he will). I think you keep him no matter what, the Center is the starting block of most any Dynasty. But if we are for some reason forced to trade him, I want Duncan, or the 7 ft. foreign guy thats coming #2 next years draft. Not shaq, he's too old.

    Duncan? You're overrating Yao.

Milicic? Now you're overhyping this Yugo guy. Have you ever watched him play? He's better than Yao?

And please let's not fall into the media trap and overrate our player yet. Yao's still a 13/8 player stat wise, not exactly All-Star numbers let alone superstar numbers. Comparing him to KG, Duncan, Kobe, Shaq etc is a bit too much.

I've actually thought about this before, and due to his age would not trade him for Shaq. Also would not trade him, unless getting another big man in return, ruling out Kobe and T-Mac. That leaves Duncan and Garnet. Garnet has not quite shown that he can carry a team deep into the playoffs, this might be the year to prove me wrong though. That leaves the Big Fundamental as the only player I would trade Yao for.

While we are having fun with this, what about a package: Francis and Yao, plus cap fodder, for Kobe and Shaq? Instant gratification in exchange for the future?

p.s. Francis will be a BYC player so this will be hard to pull off, anyway.
