Does anyboby here know how to run gzip compression on apache, locally

The more you know the more you need to know. I'm using xampp in my test environment and I am trying to switch on gzip.

I read somewhere you need to install mod_gzip which I assume means you need to add the dll to the apache bin folder, but not sure what else.
