I used to be racist when I younger. Once I started socializing with various races and ethnicities, I began to distinguish the individuals from the broad group I used to label them under. Soon after that, I found their women attractive. However, when dating women of various skin color, I stumbled when it came to friends, family, and her culture. Although she was usually very 'liberal'/open-minded, the same could not be said for the people she wanted me to meet. Thus for a long-term relationship or marriage, it was best to find someone cool from my culture. I'm sure 100 years from now, more and more interracial marriages will have us look similar. Which is a shame, really. It's refreshing to see dynamic differences right now between women i.e. a white woman from Ireland with fiery red curls versus a raven-haired, olive-skinned beauty from around the Mediterranean. I love having variety to choose from.
This. Someone who has a sexual preference of only their own race or every race except one is not necessarily "actively" racist. But, they're likely a product of a culture that has some views that began as or were based on racism. And, I don't think anyone should feel offended by the topic. I've seen this in people of every race, religion or political affiliation. If you fail to find beauty in a person because of basic traits of their race then I don't know what to call that other than racism.* Essentially, you feel their race (or every race other than your own) is inherently inferior when it comes to beauty. *when I say basic traits I mean eyes, nose, lips, hair, etc not weight, body type, or other things that vary within any race
If a girl is not attracted to me (which is basically impossible), she must be either lesbian and/or racist.
Let's be serious . . . within reason . . . alot of guys will BANG anything That doesn't mean you not racist [Many a slave master was in the slave quarters in the late night hour And we know they were as racist evil bastards as they come . . . ] So you sexual history means nothing to this conversation That said . . Preference does not say much either way on your level of racism Rocket River
I would be careful with anecdotal evidence. In 2008, a Pew study found that white people interracially marry at a rate of about 9%, which is the lowest of all broad racial groups in the US. Black people are next at 16%. Recently, in a given year, interracial marriages constitute roughly 15% of new marriages, though as percentage of the total population they are between 5-10%.
3! Anyway, we all discriminate when it comes to who we'll date/bang, at least when it comes to gender. But I don't think my thought process was "she's black, will not date." Race was never an issue for me as long as she had dat ass. But when I dated a first generation Mexican, her family told me every single time I visited them that as a white male I just had it so easy, and that I would never know their struggles. I would just say something like "yeah, I can imagine" just trying to end the awkwardness, but would hear a reply to that like "NO. YOU HAVE NO IDEA. AND YOU NEVER WILL." That just made things not comfortable.
There are physical attributes that I find attractive. Those attributes are more common in certain races but I can honestly say I have found very sexable women from all races.
Well, seeems even the discussion of race itself still brings about all kindsa side hostilities of some kind. I think sexual attraction can indicate some prejudice and bias, which is indicative of racism. But for the most part its not too conclusive. Like this.
Damn I have only slept with Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Taiwanese girls. HOLY SHIIT ... I'M A CLOSET RACIST?
Your example shows how race could play a role in attraction based on preconceived notions of someone regarding their race.
Sorry that the genetic pool wasn't too kind to you. It's bullshyt, but that's life, too bad you have to live with it.
