    Van Gumby.

Not geared to a big man's game? He did OK with Ewing, although Ewing was broken down and at odds with his teammates.

When Van Gumby calls the Rockets games, he says a lot of things that I think would improve the team. Maybe it's easier to notice things from without than within. Still...

    I'll take Gumby, dammit!

Jeff Van Gundy....if he wants to do it. He could be the coach of the Clippers, or Cavs, or Hawks, or some other team. But of course...our team is the most desirable to coach. Since we have so much talent. But they are not being utilized......or improved. :(

Donnie Nelson would be good.....because he is well....DON NELSON's SON!!!!!! So of course...well he should be as good as his dad since he's always been next to him. I don't know if he is mean but at least he will teach our players how to pass the ball.

How about Dunleavy? He's a great fundamentalist and knows how to deal with a multi-talented team like he did with the Trailblazers.

John Thompson... has coached numerous Big Men in his career, could help Yao.

Bobby Knight... maybe the Rockets need a hard ass to coach them. He would be ideal.

Gary Williams :) At least we'd know he has Steve's respect.

But seriously, I think John Thompson wouldn't be a great choice simply because the big men he's developed have been black holes on offense. Yao's passing could be his greatest asset overall and we'd need a coach that can take advantage of it.

I think Lucas would be a great hire as an assistant coach next year if Rudy stays, and as a possible replacement down the line when Rudy goes.

John Thompson was quoted on his website to say that he's "not a fan of Yao Ming"

    forget about that racist loser.

They will never pass Bob Knight's academic requirements. Taylor will be the only one with a passing score w/ 3 years' experience in Michigan, the best finacially supported Division-I school.

CALVIN MURPHY!!!!! If he doesn't try for being the head coach, he should try for presidency... not of the Rockets, but of the USA! :)

I second this. First, it would be great to see some real offense for once. Plus, I don't think its possible to play worse defensively than they have in the last month, so we wouldn't see a drop off there. He may be able to get a decent zone working.

Does Lisa Malosky do anything? How does she still have a job?

Here are my choices (in that order, regardless of availability):

    Jerry Sloan
    Jeff Van Gundy
    Bill Walton
    Calvin Murphy

Can somebody start a poll please?!

Instead of just a head coach, how about a roster of assistants. One to tutor the 5s. One to develop EG. One for zoning D (and countering O). A tutor for SF and one for all guard play.

Mo or Kareem for the 5. Luke for SF and all guard play. Who for the others?

Who leads this crew as Head Coach? I still favor JVG. Or lure Doc Rivers over here. Bring Nate McMillan down from the rain to this climate (oops, bad selling point lately).

Charles Barkley!!! The Chuckster might not ever make it through a full game due to technicals but I Love the Round Mound of Rebound.. He definately yell at the players. Honestly:
    1.Calvin Murphy
    2. Donnie Nelson
    3. Bill Walton (loves Ming and could coach him)
