hi guys, there have been some discussions on allowing or not allowing Chinese translation. given the fact that a lot of Chinese (including myself) actively contribute to this BBS, it'd be good to all of us if we can set an all agreed upon rule regarding this. so let's vote! after all a bbs exists to let people post anything they want. Furthermore, even if translated poorly, most bad translations will not do any harm to YM's rep since the US media would check the original article and get an accurate translation before they'd publish it. so there shouldn't be any worries. however we must stop bad translations simply because they are annoying and will damage the rep of this BBS. a good example is Lancet's latest try. sorry dude. you did it right for about 80% of the article, but screwed up on the most subtle and sensitive parts. so my suggestion is that whenver a bad translation is posted and found guilty as charged, the poster will be punished. How? maybe we can have a sticky thread displaying names of those bad translators. then they'll have to work hard to get their names removed. then maybe those with bad English will think twice before they attemp another translation. hey, it's just like how i'd treat EG if i were RudyT: dude, don't ya know what a PF's supposed to do? then move your bony a$$ from the 3 point line and play some interior defense, for heaven's sake!
wrong forum...this goes in Feedback. Translation: Chnese translations don't work for Forum Titles, I guess. btw: "given the fact that a lot of Chinese (including myself) actively contribute to this BBS" You have 1 post, what poster do you contribute as?
uhh, how to do that? "drive thru"? if you're an moderator, maybe you can move the thread to "Feedback". i'm a rookie here. so it's my bad. if you read Chinese and interested in reading some Chinese posts, check out http://chinayao.com/dvbbs/index.asp where i'm a regular.
i guess when i said "actively", i didn't mean "profusely", "diligently", or "so-tirelessly-that-i-don't-have-a-life-outside-of-clutchcity". in any case, the 10K+ posts of yours started with your 1st one, right? so as any respectful senior member should say to any rookie, how about something more in the line of, like, "welcome onboard"? thanks. and btw, this'll be my 3rd post. not too bad for a rookie who just joined. peace.
