Okay, I guess it is sounding like I have given up on the Rockets making the playoffs this season, but I just don't see this team doing anything even if they make it.

It might be better to miss because that way maybe some shake-ups will happen.

Anyway, I got to thinking about how long it has been since the Cavaliers, Warriors, Clippers, Nuggets, and Hawks have been to the playoffs.

The Cavs and Hawks were regular participants in the playoffs and the Warriors, Nuggets, and even Clippers made it a few times. However, it seems like we have fallen into that same situation as those teams: miss the playoffs once and take forever to make it again.

I feel that a lot of the reason why those teams have been unsuccessful in not making the playoffs is bad personnel decisions. Let's see...signing Mo Taylor to a huge ridiculous contract, signing Cato to a huge ridiculous contract, signing Moochie to a huge ridiculous contract, acquiring Rice, giving up a 1st round pick for TMo...oh, oh, spaghettios!

I wish that I could say that I honestly see a light at the end of this tunnel and if there is one, his name is Yao. Yet our play by our main guys, e.g. the guards, is what worries me. Until they play smarter, we are destined, IMO, to be a team stuck in the purgatory known as "non-playoff regulars".:(

So, this is a thread of frustration and if you are as frustrated as me in realizing that we can identify with Cav fans, Nuggets fans, Warriors fans, and my God, Clippers fans, then by all means let out that frustration! It will make you feel better, at least it did with me.

The next question, which is obvious, is what do the Rockets do to get out of this purgatory and is the answer "doable"?

    Yo soy DEPRIMIDO!!!!!!!!!!!

Not really...but yeah. We haven't made the playoffs for like 4 seasons already.
Yet....we still look all confident and then we screw up.
Now the Warriors' future looks pretty bright.....
I'm sure there aren't too many Clippers fans.
Cavs.......they're just waiting for Lebron. No one cares about them... :(
NOT MANY PEOPLE IN HOUSTON CARE ABOUT THE ROCKETS EITHER.
At least in Golden State.......they say that a lot of people are coming out and watching them now. There's a BUZZ!!!

It's pretty hard to be a Denver Nuggets fan....
even more painful than being a Rockets fan.

If the Rockets lose to the Raptors tonight.....then they WILL NOT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS this year....

But I am sure that they will make it NEXT season.......in a while.

if you are frustrated, go into a closet, close the door, sit down and say these words to yourself:

Francis for Kidd and a #1.

Don't tell anyone you went into the closet though, or you will get chastised and ostracized. Keep it a secret to yourself.

As a fan, I try not to pay too much attention into the contracts of our players. If you didn't think about how much $ Cato was making, you'd think he was pretty darned good.

I don't know why you gotta take a jab at MoT, especially when he's coming off a double-double in 26 minutes yesterday vs. Detroit.

You don't like Rice? What, you liked Shandon Anderson better? I find that hard to believe.

I think it's funny that people are so swayed after a few wins or losses. Are these not the same problems that has plagued us all year. So it's finally come to bite us in the butt, should we be surprised?

Do we have consistent defensive effort every night?

Do we have guards that make sharp passes setting up temmates for easy scores?

Do we play aggressively creating turnovers and getting loose balls?

Do we always look for 2 or 3 options before forcing up a shot?

    The answers are NO.

We dribble the ball up slowly and waste 6-10 seconds before running our offense (sometimes resulting in an embarassing 8 second violation).

We have inconsistency from the PF. One can score but can't rebound or play Defense. The other cant score, play defense or do anything else, but can block shots.

We have the worst backup PG in the league.

We have a rookie Center that is reading the Chinese version of "How Not To Be a Wuss in the NBA"

We have a coach that understands our problems, complains about our problems, and yet the same problems exist.

We have a SF that can't dribble or shoot but is great for transition basketball - too bad we don't run.

Our other SF is 80 years old and is on and off at the offensive end but can't play any defense (how often have we said that already - the good news is his wife has stopped talking smack)

Our other other SF is our Center's babysitter on the road (Should Colin get jealous?)

Our other other other SF is irrelevant.

Our assitant coaches are great at videotaping games - they can't coach but have cool hi tech equipment.

Finally, we have LitTle5121 and Yetti, the worst 2 BBS posters in the entire league who litter the boards with crap and have not made a coherent statement despite 5 billion posts.

    Whew.

    Go Rockets!

Well they are doing better than expected this season, but if the playoffs started today, they would still be out like us. Close but no cigar..

Maybe so, but imagine how much better they'd be feeling if they'd have taken Stoudemire in the draft instead of Dunleavy.

I noticed that after the Rockets lost a couple of games on the road after playing an obscene amount of games in a small number of days, even though they had just beaten Boston, one of the best teams in the East, on the road, people REALLY started to come unraveled. Then the loss to the Spurs, possibly the best team in the NBA right now, and the roof just came off. The Spurs had just won like 13 of their previous 14 games. I mean what do people expect? It's ridiculous that people actually expect this team to win all these games. The expectations are just crazy.

More related to the thread topic, it's a fact that most teams that are in the lottery, were generally in the lottery the year before as well. Lottery teams are usually lottery teams for a while. There are already several top draft choices on teams that are in the lottery. Dallas was in the lottery for like 10 years in a row. Same with Golden State right now. People expect the Rockets to be different for some reason. They're already more ahead of schedule than most teams.
