Considering the fact that most NBA analysists would agree with those two statements, it's certainly not laughable.

He actually does, lol. He obviously started watching the Rockets this season and did not watch last season.

The rockets need to bounce back right now. Jazz won tonight and has become real threat again. I hope tonight's benching, no matter right or wrong, could wake the starters up.

Ok with the loss. We weren't going to win this game once we got down 17 points late in the 3rd. I know the lead got cut to 9 points, but 9 points against Memphis isn't 9 points against a worse defensive team.

Starters should be fresh for tomorrow.

Happy to see Harden playing the right way. Loved how he passed the ball tonight and did not force shots.

Bayless hurt us a lot off their bench.

No surprise we couldn't guard Randolph.

Would have liked to have seen Harden talk to the media after the game.

It would seem that I'm in in the minority opinion on this but I thought this game was winnable.

With 9:22 left in the game, the Rockets were down 9 and had just finished a 10-2 run. Then the Griz called a time out and put back their starters. We didn't. Final Outcome: Roxs Loss.

To be clear, I'm not saying we were definitely going to win at the 9:22 mark if the starters came back in, but the fact of the matter was that we had a better-than-slim chance of closing a 9-point gap with 9+ minutes left given that we've came back from 10+ pt deficits in 14 games this year.

I get what people are saying that the starters played like crap and have been for multiple games. But was there NO OTHER WAY of saying it besides essentially forfeiting 1/12 of our remaining games while we're in a playoff chase? Could he not have gone Bobby Knight on them or something in the locker room? Was giving up tonight the smartest thing that coach could have done?

That's what I'm not convinced of. Who knows what is going on in the locker room or in the mind of coach McHale. But I'm of the opinion that locker room issues, lack of effort issues, and just about everything else team related should be handled privately and not be made into a public spectacle.

Let's see how the team comes out against the Clippers tonight and we'll see if the benching lit a fire in the starters arse.

We're talking about effort and energy! you don't have to be the best players in the league to give it. Nothing wrong with my analogy.

basic rule of coaching in the NBA: the bench comes in to BACK UP the starters and provide energy. they must not be confused for the real thing.

Harden isn't a superstar right now but he is already way better than Kevin Martin will ever be. He is at least the 3rd best shooting guard in the league right now. He has his flaws but is also very young. I think eventually with a better coach he'll fix what's remaining and become a true superstar.

McHale was saying in an interview that teams have started to defend our pick and roll differently and are letting Smith and Asik have the ball in their hands more.

Basic rule: you don't start your fourth seed point guard,

    aka LINSANITY.

    So shut up.

LMFAO the Rockets could easily move Harden's 80 million dollar contract.. Pretty sure they could find a taker.... You guys are amazing.

Ok with this loss but far from okay with the effort by our starters, if we fail to make the playoffs it's on them, not the coach. I have a feeling we come out blasting against the Clips though, stay positive.

This might've been the Rockets' weirdest game of the season. I'd really love to see the sequel in the playoffs, though.

I thought if Memphis wins, they'd win by shutting down Houston's transition game and turning it into a slugfest. Instead, Memphis won this game with offense + toughness, energy, and Allen punking Harden in so many ways.
I think the Rockets do have the personnel to answer that and take a playoff game or two. But these starters will have to bring more energy. Tony Allen can't just stroll in and take away boards like candy from little kids.

I suspect Harden is playing hurt. I agree with McHale shutting our "Big Three" down last night, to rest and motivate them for tonight's home game. When the heck will TJ get a chance?
