It's just a discussion point. Everyone agrees he played poorly in the first half - no one is defending his benching there. Let's face the music - Lin was benched because of his offense tonight, not because of his defense. McHale wants a PG that doesn't make mistakes, plays good defense and allows the offense to flow through Harden and that's what he got. As a PG, if your style of ball is to be aggressive and playmake, and when you attempt to do that, you get benched, you don't think that will affect your play?
I think either mchale or lin will need to go next season because the situation with lins play and minutes is untenable. As much as les likes lin for the gateway into asia the fact is that he will only have value to the extent that he is productive. Chinese advertising is all well and good but asian consumers are not going to tune in to watch him sitting onthe bench or standing passively around on the court. In the longer term lin as a second string point guard whether by his quality of play and/or the coach,s lack of trust and lack of playing time effectivley relegates him to the role of the team,s asian mascot. And what you have is basically $8 million dead weight counting against ur cap. That,s HALF a max player. As a business ur better off improving the team,s success and drawing sponsorship and attendance from quality basketball. The better the team the further u go in the playoffs so the more revenue u get from attendance and advertising. This can potentially far outweigh the revenue from lin being an asian mascot. To reiterate lin,s value is not in him being asian, it is in him being asian AND balling. Which is why yao was so valuable and sun yue and yi jian lian were not. At this rate lin is more yi than yao. Hes got potential but no play and lack of trust from mchale is stunting his development. If hes not playing in close regular season games then theres no chance he plays in close plyoff games
Lin came out cause he tweaked his ankle. I was at the game and saw it. Beverly came in and played great so mchale stuck with him..nothing to see here people stop being overly dramatic cause we lost.
. If ur gonna grt pulled regardless then u play ur game regardless, just like back in new york just before he was gonna get cut. He plays passive he gets benched. He plays aggressive he gets benched. Might as well go down swinging.
I love Jeremy Lin but this is getting ridiculous. The Rockets are fighting for a play-off spot. Lin's playing time should be the least of our problems. He'll get more playing time against quality opponents if we reach the play-off. And he better be consistently good by that time because i don't mind admiring him on the bench if it means a Rockets win.
I think you have three options next year: 1. Lin gets traded before deadline. 2. If Lin is still around after trade deadline it will mean it's the last season for McHail. This is assuming the same go around as this season. 3. Lin and Harden can be the combo we all imagine then McHail is going to be around for a long time.
actually no that wasnt it at all i was mocking your blindness HER DER DER JEREMY LIN NOT PLAYING? BETTER MAKE A THREAD ABOUT KEVIN MCHALE PEOPLE SAYING THREAD IS REDUNDANT? BETTER SAY HERPA DERPA DERPA JERMY LIN BEST
How many will not? A different coach is just a different coach in that terms. However, what this signifies to Lin is that he's got at least the trust/faith from upper management...this will mean something to any player...whether good or not (see Melo).
I hope this is true. I like mchale m's system but not him beefing with certain players. Like Lowry last year
If the case happens one or two times into a season, I might actually believe you. But it happened too many times now. so I say Mchale has an absolute distrust issue with Lin. Let's face it, Beverly was not having monster games so the word stuck is somehow overrated.
How about he improve his a** and start being consistent, and maybe we don't have to think about upgrading.
I saw the title of the thread and knew immediately what the subject would be about. I also knew that the OP would discount the fact that Lin has had nearly a full season as the starter. How did i do?
Just because you don't agree with somebody doesn't mean that you have to act like a jerk and insult them. I agree with them to a point, I have no problem with Lin being pulled in the first half but he played good in the third and I think Mchale should have brought him back earlier in the fourth. Beverley played played 28 minutes and had one assist, the offense doesn't flow when he is in the game, Lin should have came back.
You hate these threads, yet you and the usual suspects come in here and add nothing to the conversation. Pretty disappointing, I expected more from a veteran.
