Yeah, but while Bev does most of his damage against scrubs, Lin NEVER plays against the opposing team's backups...McFail doesn't even stagger his minutes with Harden anymore to start the 2nd or 4th quarter, which would get him some playing time against the scrub bench players
If you go check out his performance and stats under woodson. He was scoring 15 points and alot of assits on average and consistently delivering on clutch period, before he got injured. So it's nonsense that he sucked under woodson. Seriously under Woodson , Lin had more free reign then what we has in the pacers/rockets game. Mchale in the pacers/rockets game has overdone it again.
His backup is only capable of providing spark in limited minutes. At least it is the case for now. Bev is a good kid, nothing against him. But he hasn't shown he can run the offense when playing extended minutes. Tonight in the second half Bev did almost nothing and yet MaFail played him around 12 minutes straight. It is fair to say Lin outplayed him in the second half but they still split minutes. I am willing to bet you that if game stayed close McFail would have sit Lin the entire fourth Qtr. And it won't be based on performance and crap like riding the hot hand. It is because McFail just doesn't trust him.
How can there still be so many Mchale apologists when his d-league coaching is exposed game after game? 1st half - Lin plays like **** and gets benched. Bev plays well and stays in. 2nd half - Lin plays well and gets benched. Bev disappears and stays in. Down 10 with under 4 minutes to play and this dude puts Lin back in...WTF? Were you expecting him to win the game for you coming in after sitting for 10+ minutes? Where was this trust when Lin started going in the 3rd? Or was it just to deflect post-game questions?
McHale needs to give his starters starter minutes otherwise have them come off the bench. The rotations on this team is one of the most inconsistent in the NBA. I know it's a young team but it's insane when Parsons and Harden has 40+ minutes when your other starters Mo 13 and Lin have 19. Most NBA teams give their starters around 30 minutes per game. I'm scared McHale is gonna ride Parsons and Harden until they break with all these 40 minute games. I don't care if we are a 1st round exit for the playoff this year. I just hope McHale is focused on developing his players instead of riding them so he gets to keep his job next year.
Well, yeah you're probably right. But he's going to need to learn to up his swag at his own will, just like every other successful player should, or nothing will change. Kobe and Nash got benched behind Eddie Jones and Kevin Johnson at the start of their careers. Do you think they let that kill their confidence, or did they use that doubt as fuel? Let the dude grow up, guys.
I think he will sack up. He did come out better in the 3rd quarter. Didn't get a chance to handle it much in the 4th.
Or maybe Lin was just playing better? Lin was #3 in ISO's in the NBA, where he scored most of his pts in the clutch under Woodson. This year he's almost last. I wonder what the difference is?
Coz linsanity was just a fluke? And good luck trying to find any team that would feature lin again. It sure doesn't seem like Knicks are missing lin.
Haha. LOH. Funny. Been a Rockets fan since 1992. You? Lemme guess, 2012? I just care about the team winning. Lin is not above criticism. He's just looked bad lately and in spurts through out the year. He's especially exposed when the other starters aren't hitting their shots. I pull for the kid to play well but he's also got a guy in Bev right behind him who gives it his all every time out on the court--especially on defense.
Beverly plays better D as simple as that. Lin has a better offensive game with the ball in his hands but this team doesn't require that. Bev should be a starter and Lin should come in off the bench in this system.
If you care the team winning, you won't support the rotation that brings in a player when there's only 4 min left while he's sitting there for like 12 mins with cold body.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCZiDPPmJAY All the makes and misses in Lin's breakthrough game vs. Nets in NY. Lin missed like 5 consecutive jumpers. Just imagine McHale was in D'Antoni's shoes...
Well the difference is that Harden is a more ball dominant player like Lin is so obviously Harden has more of a greenlight than Lin. Plus I hope that you can recall that the first 3 months he was still coming off a knee surgery. This isn't the first time Mchale pulled out Lin for a quarter. Mchale said earlier in the season that he doesn't expect linsanity numbers so why pull him out a whole quarter and stunt his development?
