Another reason why Chris Webber wants to come to Houston . . .

    How sweet!!!!!

I would love to see C-Webb in a Rocket uni. Imagine this line up:

    Ctr - C. Webber /// K. Cato
    PF - M. Taylor /// K. Thomas
    SF - W. Williams /// D. Langhi
    SG - S. Anderson /// C. Mobley
    PG - S. Francis /// M. Norris

And if K. Thomas could slim down even more (maybe 225lbs - 235lbs), then MAYBE K. Thomas could play the 3-spot over D. Langhi.
That would be a killer line up that could do it all. Fakers and Jailblazers would not even matter.

Anyway, if only this was a perfect world.

"...Do you hear 'em? They're everywhere!!! AAAHHH!!!"

That's what the other teams will be saying after being shellshocked by Steve Francis and Co.

C Webb is not a center. It drove him crazy playing center with the Wizards.

Forget Langhi. I say we try and get T. Morris in the draft. Look at this lineup:

    Webber/Cato
    Taylor/Thomas
    Morris/Williams
    Anderson/Mobley
    Franchise/Norris

I don't think Webber will mind playing center. Thats a future championship team right there.

If we draft, a 3, Shandon would consider walking. He already has to share minutes with Mobley and Williams with Langhi and Bullard snagging a few minutes themselves. Throw a first round 3 in the picture, and I can't imagine him taking less one more time. If we give him the payday we promised though, who knows. Only problem is we can't afford the payday without trading Cato. Then we'd draft a center anyway to fill Cato's role.

Actually I posted this because I thought it was kind of cool that Steve did this to C-webb even before he went to school at Maryland.

This was from a section in hoopstv that made the reader choose if the story was made up or not. I knew it would be true even before they confirmed it due to the way hoopstv admires steve and his game.

So, let me get this straight. We are going to use that $12 million we have to sign Anderson, Webber AND Taylor?

Not that I beleive for a second that C Webb is entertaining ideas of coming to Houston, but...

Anderson is due his large chunck as a birds right player. Meaning that the Rox can sign him to whatever they want even going over the cap, assuming

    1. They give the Money to Mo Taylor
    2. They give the Money to C Webb.

First. Then sign Anderson to early bird rights.

Am I wrong or right on this?

Anderson would have to go one more year with the Rockets before his Bird rights kick in. Putting it another way, Anderson has a third year on his current contract at the player's option. Meaning he would have to forfeit that option and play one more year before getting the big payout. That is the big question: does he opt out and look for the big score, or does he suck it up and wait one more year for his bird rights.

Please note that Webber is one of the players granfathered in to be able to make more than the max. Roughly 13-15 mil if I remember correctly. The additional $$$ could be a dealbreaker.

Please also note that the mid-level exception will no longer be a fixed number, but rather a funtion of the cap. The estimated number which everyone is throwing is as high as 4.5 million. If this is the case I think that it's going to drive up the price for $6mil/yr to max type players.

    From HoopsTV.com . . .

It was a sweltering summer afternoon in College Park, Md., and the auxiliary gym in the Cole Field House was a sweat box. During the hoop off-season, a number of pros and some of the University’s finest ballers always gathered in the small gym for some serious run. This particular day was no different with Chris Webber, Michael Adams and Rod Strickland – among others – hitting the boards in the midst of the mid-day heat.

The regulars didn’t notice the one newcomer, a kid fresh from his high school graduation. The unknown baller waited his turn on the sidelines as the first game got under way. As he stretched and looked over the competition, a feeling of confidence slowly seeped over his body. He could hang with these guys, he knew he could.

At the conclusion of the first run, the newcomer joined the challengers on the court. They were to face the team led by Chris Webber. The run started and, as usual, C-Webb was being his typical smack spewing self as he sprinted to D-up his man during the second trip back down the floor. “I don’t get dunked on. Ain’t no one ever dunked on me,” he taunted.

The words were barely out of his mouth when a shot was heaved from the top of the key. C-Webb turned to face the rim and his body tensed as he prepared to snag a potential rebound. The shot clanged off the tin and Webber coiled to spring skyward. Just as he prepared to elevate, he felt something brush past his shoulder. He looked up just in time to see the new kid jumping over his back to catch the rebound above the rim before banging it home with a vicious one handed flush. After the monster slam, the kid ended up sitting on Webber’s shoulders like he was preparing for a chicken fight in the shallow end of the city pool. The gym was filled with the sounds from the howling onlookers as the two were separated.

"No one does that to me,” said Webber.

The new kid just smiled. Steve Francis had arrived. His legend was born.

So Steve won't dunk on his A$$ !!! [IMG]

If u REALLY wanna dream AND keep everyone happy, Shandon plays out the final year then gets paid with bird rights......Sign and Trade Mo Taylor and Walt Williams for Chris Webber....Then draft Terrence Morris, and shandon keeps his minutes....

C - Cato (Great defense, Blocks)
PF - Webber (Great defender, blocks)
SF - Morris (alread above average defender)
    SG - Anderson (great defender)
PG - Francis (by then, above average defender)

    SIXTH MAN - Mobley

    Others -
    Collier
    Langhi
    Norris
    Thomas

Can u imagine?? All five starters play AT LEAST above average defense, and forget how much we can score with that lineup!!!! D wins championships, but D and O is what starts dynasties....

    Sane,
I think your on the right track, but next years Free Agent market is poor and CWebb be be a *hot* commodity. IMHO, it will take more than Mo & Wiz. Perhaps some picks or even a 3rd team which already has a strong PF and can deal SAC a 5 to replace an aging Vlade (don't think Pollard is their future starter & Jabari is still too raw).

Was I the only one who got chills when reading that.

I hope all Rockets' fans realize how lucky we are to be saying goodbye to one HOF and welcoming a new one at the same time. Not many franchises get to do that.

    Let's do this,

Mo Taylor (re-signed 6 mill), Walt Williams (5mill), Kenny Thomas (1 mill), and two first rounders and two second rounders within the next five years to Sacramento for nothing but a re-signed Webber....

ONLY wuestion is, will sac town trade him to houston, who they will be huge rivals with ny year's end....We're giving them back a starting PF, and Walt Williams, who can play the 2, 3 or 4 ocassionally....Kenny Thomas for depth at the 4....4 amazing picks....that's a great package.....AND, we'll still have approximately 5 million in cap space, since only 6 of the 12 million we'll have next year is being used....I dunno.....will it work??
