Has anyone considered that Boki might not be as good as advertised? He hasn't looked good in very limited time on the court.
Yeah, Nachbar is NBA ready like Yao was a huge project and would do little this year. The sports writers assessment of Nachbar was very poor. Have you seen him play when he has played? He does not look good. Manu and Giricek have speed, Boki does not. Manu is also from Argentina which is not in Europe just so you know. Manu is also very athletic and Boki is not.
outstanding observation...I'm in agreement with you 100%. Maybe Rudy really has viewed something that we haven't. Who knows.
Rudy just doesn't like to take risk. He should give Boki more minutes but he seems to loyal to the starters. In his I might change the lineup section he states it but then says I don't want to ruin his confidence refering to Eddie. Rudy he will get over it make the CHANGES before it is too late damn it!!!!!!
I hope Boki becomes a good player in the future, but I honestly don't get why so many people here think he's going to be something special right away. Especially considering most people here have only seen limited footage of him, yet are already hailing him as the next Peja or Barry. He's a rookie. And besides, both Hawkins and TMo are ahead of Boki on the rotation, and with good reason. Both are playing great ball, and I seriously doubt that Boki is better than them at this point. They've earned their minutes, whether it be: Working on his game and waiting until the right time to show it (TMo) or being a utility man and always coming in and doing what is needed (Hawk). That being said, next year I'd like to see Posey gone, Rice traded for something valuable, and Boki in the regular rotation. (Behind T-Mo and Hawkins still - until he proves himself either in practice or in a game time situation)
I think you are missing the point, yeah Scottie Pippen is one of the 50 greatest, and Rudy T couldn't even fit him into the system. The problem is Rudy T's system. As far as Nachbar is concerned, I think the guy may not be as good as advertised but the way Posey has been playing, and if we are being blown out, the guy needs to see some game time action.
I don't know how good Boki is/would be, but neither Ginobili, Manu, Okur, or Girichek played fantastic ball from the beginning. I DO believe that Boki would be much more productive than Rice, and a constant contributor on offense by now had he been given consistent minutes.
I agree! It makes you wonder a bit. Additonally T-Mo has seemed to play well when he has been given time but hasn't gotten that much lately. In the beginning of the season I believe Rudy when he said that Nachbar had been slowed because of the hernia operation over the summer. But now he has to be at full strength. Could Nachbar be worse then what Posey is giving us on the offensive end? Could he be anymore inconsistant than Rice? I think it is worth a shot. The obvious BIG problem is Rudy not willing to makes changes. He is just too stuck with his rotations. He is too afraid of hurting a players feelings by putting someone else in. That's all fine and good but sometimes you can't mother the players but you have to instill some accountability and some discipline. The players have to make plays and the coach has to mix and match lineups that work for them. We all heard about how Nachbar was going to be NBA ready for this team when we drafted him. It is a shame he hasn't gotten a chance. Heck for that matter, if we hadn't had injuries last year Eddie Griffin wouldn't have gotten any playing time and he would be that much more behind the learning curve for not playing. Chris
I was trying not to be down on Rudy T today but the urge is too strong. I am in full agreement. Rudy T's handling of his personel has been very poor. It is not just Boki, it cover most of our players, including Ming. I still believe that Ming could be doing better and it has nothing to do with how tired he is, but more to do with Rudy's limited ability to create easy opportunity for Ming.
I'm still trying to puzzle out exactly what Doc Rocket meant about Boki not playing. I mean, what reason could there possibly be for him not playing if he's physically and technically ready to do it (which seemed implied by the post)? Is Rudy really that much into playing veterans until they break down and die rather than giving a talented rookie a chance? How many opportunities do they get before Rudy says, "ok, now I'm gonna play the guy who's been kicking ass in practice." It makes no sense.
I'm amazed that people are so amazed that a mid-first round pick from another country who they've never seen play isn't playing on a team trying to make the playoffs.
You and me both... Boki needs to be out there and I think he'll start playing some minutes once it's clear WE WON'T MAKE THE PLAYOFFS (e.g. Soon)... We have to do something with the lineup, playas minutes, whatever it takes to get the right TEAM CHEMISTRY...
Manu started the season with an injury. Giricek played well, but off-and-on; 25 pts one game, 3 the next, that sort of thing. But he is doing well now at Orlando. Oeilpere posted that he knows the reason Rudy isn't playing Boki and disagrees with it; I wish I knew what it is. Of course, Rudy might be soothing over Rice the veteran. Or, Yao getting so much attention now, Rudy doesn't want to seem like he's playing favorites by inserting Yao's best friend-the-other-rookie into the lineup? I hope this isn't the case, because it would be moronic (hence the reason I don't automatically dismiss the idea). Not to mention the fact that I don't know if the coaching staff can handle that many young players: Eddie hasn't improved one iota from last year, what with Yao in the lineup. Maybe EG isn't getting the attention he needs to improve? I am still hoping that Boki is the player that was advertised pre-season.
So both Doc Rocket and Oeilpere know the reasoning for Boki's lack of playing time. Oeilpere disagrees with it and Doc finds the reasoning odd. I'm just dying to find out what Rudy is thinking.
If I remember correctly, Spur's Gembolli even not drafted, and already contribute a lot . If boki not good enough, Rockets must make terrible choice in their draft.
Manu was drafted a few years ago if I remember right. He was a late 2nd round pick. Yeah just checked....2nd to last pick of the draft in 1999.
