Depends for what franchise.... Lakers and Celts can lay back with their numbers of titles and go for milestones like this

For ball clubs hungry for titles this aint cut it I agree

I don't know how you can compare the two.

Battier is on two 22-game streaks. Horry was on 7 championships. Which one's resume is more impressive? I don't know. They are just lucky to be on those teams.

Championship of a team sport has never been an impressive achievement for an individual player. You are probably one of those ring-counters who implicitly imply that Duncan's resume is more impressive than Hakeem.

That's b/c they have been conditioned to think that way. That doesn't mean a championship is more impressive.

apples and oranges. you know they won 33 at some point yet you compare it to knowing about a championship in a specific year.
What you should be asking, did the Wilt Lakers win a championship? I suspect you wouldn't have to double check that nor would most people. Sure, most people won't know the specific year but neither would they know the specific year of the streak.

Besides, i suspect there's a slight bias when it comes to winning streaks among the Rockets fans because the Rockets had a big streak fairly recently.

Funny, something similar was discussed on the home broadcast vs MIN last game. They were discussing Adelmans comments that he held the Rockets 22 game streak in higher regard than the back to back trips to the finals with the Blazers. Clyde seemed pretty butt hurt & refuted the comments repeatedly.

    Says who?

Great feats accomplished by team or individuals will always be equally or more memorable than Championships, because they are far more difficult to achieve.

What garnered global attention last season? The Heat winning a championship or the Linsanity streak?

The logic that greatness is measured by championships only is broken, and absolutely ridiculous in my opinion.

I should add that I still believe that championships separate the elite players from each other. This Heat "buddy era" is threatening that way of thinking, but I'm not ready to abandon it yet.

When arguing about two players I never bring up rings so wrong.

The ultimate goal that teams prepare before the year is to win a Championship. Would they like to go on a 33 game win streak sure, it increases your chances at winning that Championship

Yea, I see his point. 20 years from now, are you more likely to remember the team that won the 01' Championships or the only team to ever reach a 50-game wins streak?

All I want to ask, who were the players on the 33 game win streak?
My point exactly, most of us have no clue. So why would that be more valuable then having a championship ring. A record like this great to have, but it defines your team to be the best for a certain # of games, championship defines the team to be the best for that season.

There are dozens and dozens of categories in which a team or player can lead. A winning streak is just one of them.
Teams train to win a championship, not to capitalize on a weak schedule and conference.

Idiotic comment by someone who has never won a championship before.

You play for the championship. You want to be the last team standing after a series of playoff rounds.

The regular season is just a preparation ground.

What I like about JVG is that he won't make excuses about his team's performance regardless of their age and inexperience. And, he'll take responsibility when his coaching errors influence a game.

I respect JVGs comments and I actually agree with him. 33 in a row is nearly impossible to break, same as Wilt's 100 points in an NBA game and other nearly impossible to break achievements.

Every year there is a new champion. Some of those records stand decades (or forever) and whoever holds them holds a piece of history.

Do Rockets fans remember the 1994/1995 years more fondly, or whatever year we had the 22 game win streak? I think that very simply tells you which one people value more.

Well when you eliminate the fact that we're talking about a 33 game winning streak, then maybe.

    I remember both.

Like I said in the other streak thread, I remember the time when Sampson hit that buzzer shot and we eventually beat the great Lakers (even though we didn't win the championship) just as fondly as the championship years, same as the 22-streak, same as taking the Lakers to 7 games with a bunch of role players... The list can go on. Why does it have to be a championship to be remembered fondly?

There are so many things to treasure as a fan. I just don't get the tunnel vision of "championship only" mentality. No wonder so many people here are so bitter about everything. We won only 2 championships in almost 5 decades. To you guys, all these other years are just a waste of time watching the Rockets?

Any of you that would prefer the rockets to win 33 games in a row OVER an NBA Championship make no sense at all.

In fact if you win 33 games in a row and then not bring home the ring you will always be remembered for the team that had a great streak but didn't win it all just like the Patriots.

The best memories are always the ones when your team is holding up the larry o'brien trophy. This business is about winning championships not winning big in regular season.
