There is no such thing called "LOYALTY" in today's pro sports. Players always want more money AND a better situation; owners have been doing the same thing. Wilt was traded more than once, MJ was forced out, and Payton was just traded. It's called business.

I think Yao will stay as long as the Rockets can be competitive in the next few years. I just think Yao and his team will be too concerned with his public image to let him go somewhere else. I believe the Rockets will make every effort to get better, so Yao will stay.

People who are voting yes better not show up at the parade when this team wins it's first championship.

No... not the Laker. I cannot even stand reading it.:(

I wish Yao stay with the Rocket.

It is too early to tell anyway.

If you think the Rockets will win a championship in the next 3 years you're dreaming. If Yao re-signs a longer, fatter contract then you can talk about championships. Right now during his current contract a championship is a pipe dream.

I don't think salary will be a major issue when Yao team start making decision where he should stay (he can make way more money on his commercial than his salary). For Yao team, where he can get more rings is more important....

I think he'll stay. I know people are saying teams like NY, and LA will try and get him, but people forget Houston is an extremely huge city as well, with a good diversity in race and culture, especially in the Chinese community. Plus it's not like Houston doesn't have any upside to it. It's a good city that's pretty big on basketball.

Man....he's been here for a while now. And he still has visited Chinatown like ONCE! Our community of Chinese is fairly large. Yao is pretty loyal.......and Yao doesn't like a lot of attention......like in LA or NYC. :) But he could be making $$$$$$ if he goes to Golden State. I HOPE HE STAYS.

Yao is STAYING. Bank on it. It's because of something called RESTRICTED FREE AGENCY. It's not Yao's decision whether to leave or stay.

Dallas. It will immediately solve their soft inside problem. Dallas will be the champions for the next 10 years.

You think Rox would dare to use rules in their power to influence Yao's decision? Think again, Rox will get one more year of service, but Yao is gone for sure. And if Yao decides to leave, he will still get max money since it is definitely a sign and trade so that Rox could get something back.

I don't see that happen until something dramatically change with the Rockets, mainly Rudy T and a real PG.

lancet, I agree, this team is hardly on the verge of a championship as currently configured. If the current team is a preview of the near or distant future, I would bolt if I were Ming. This version of the Rockets is the most disappointing ever in my career as a Rockets fan (a period that extends back to the Rudy years). If it weren't for Ming I would have already stopped watching this group. They play the most unintelligent brand of basketball I have ever seen. And they play it over and over and over again. Time is not the problem, they are not progressing and in some ways they appear to be regressing. They are very frustrating to watch.

Are you an insider Jeff, do u know that the Rox will not use the influence of rules, besides its 3 more years of services minium after this one anyways. And how well do you know Yao that you would say he wants to leave this soon. And if Yao's really willing to quit on this team then maybe he's not the person we thought he was.

I completely agree. When the Grizzles were playing in Vancouver, they lost a lot of games but they were not playing in a selfish manner. It's just they didn't have elite players (except Mike Biby) but they were improving, fought hard and lost as a TEAM. The Rockets are now a bunch of street boys, playing lousy one-on-one basket ball games and every player (except Yao) is just minding his own scores. It's only idiots will comit the same mistakes over and over and over again. The Rockets are not ordinary idiots, though, they are professional idiots.

It would be interesting to see what Flopton and Karla can do with Yao in the middle.
