I'm in your camp on all of this. But to be fair, as we saw last year, just as important is to shore up depth with a little more quality. You can't lose 1 player and have your entire side of the football fall apart (Cushing is amazing, but your defense can't be 1 player or bust)

I disagree...Mitchell was no worse than Cody last season. In fact, Mitchell was on the DLine that pretty much stopped Adrian Peterson last year (its relative, but Peterson was pretty much shut down in comparison to other games).

Cody, starting 13 games, had 10 solo tackles and 17 total tackles.

Mitchell had 19 solo tackles and 31 total tackles...while not being on the field as much as Cody.

Sorry, but Cody was non existent last season. No way Mitchell starting depreciates the Texans defense.

Any defensive lineman not named Anotnio Smith or JJ Watt was non existent last season.

no one is worrying from what they are saying. These dudes as entertaining as they are express only opinions not facts. Like last year through week four, according to Lance.. Brady was no longer the same player and we were witnessing the downfall right before our eyes. Pretty dramatic huh?

or the dorks(koch +matt) that blast schaub for not winning big games(rightfully so as of now) but think Romo is the greatest. The same romo that throws noodle armed passes to the sideline for a pick and under throws the ball for an int against the redskins, in what was considered their biggest game of their season last year. =/

If we sign reed, it will be a nice acquisition short term. it will also mean we will be drafting a safety to take over in the really near future. I liked GQ though, tough seeing him leave to detroit of all places.

Not trying to sound pessimistic, but I wouldn't get my hopes up if some people believe Ed Reed following Wade on Twitter means anything good. Could just mean that he liked him as a person and just wanted to follow him like any other guy that meets Wade.

If Reed wants anywhere close to the $7 million that he was getting in Baltimore then the Texans should look elsewhere.

I'm getting a bad feeling about this. The longer it goes on, the more fishy it seems. It normally doesn't take this long for free agents in the open market to come to terms. I almost get the feeling he's stalling to see what Baltimore will come back and offer.

Let's worry about the important things here....

Who is going to host and who will make cameos on On The Nose?

After all, that's been Cody's most significant contribution the last two seasons.

They need to make the deal or move on, still plenty of time and players out there to shape roster.

I do agree with them that money for Reed and other vets for a short term plug is money well spent.

We have our core almost all locked up

    Brown
    Schaub
    Arian
    AJ

    on offense

    Watt-soon
    Cushing-soon
    J-Jo
Reed or Mercilous whoever ends up being more valuable

    on defense

Time to plug holes with vets and get a large pool of young guys in who can come in and develop then step in after

Andre Johnson said today he thinks the Texans "will get a deal done" with Ed Reed. "it's all positive," he said.

Johnson: "I'm on the edge of my seat like you guys are." He met media after appearance at Health Museum.

Johnson had dinner with Reed Thursday night before parting at Pub Fiction, popular midtown club.

Johnson said Texans have never pursued FA like Reed. He said Reed can be "missing link."

Johnson said he called Reed to congratulate him on Super Bowl. "Ed said, 'Get me to Houston,'" Johnson said.

Asked bout complaints Reed too old, Johnson said, "They said that bout me. Just watch him play."

Our folks at @nflnetwork tell us Ed Reed left the building in Houston w/o a deal. Nothing expected today.

    Aaron Wilson ‏@RavensInsider
One source predicted that Ed Reed would shop the deal around, but that he eventually gets something done with Houston. We'll see

Would be hilarious after all the hype from most people who posted on here, getting the thread to 26 pages, and he signs elsewhere.
