Haven't seen that anywhere but doesn't mean it's not in the talks.

Wouldn't mind getting Dansby to sure up the Will Side LB if the price is right, that dude had a great year last year.

Dansby could be cheap. ILB's can come cheap.

I thought Ball and Forsett played well here considering their roles. Ball was one of our few bright spots on special teams.

#Texans have lost a few free agents... But sounds like they are interested in re-signing punter Donnie Jones. 47.2 avg in 2012.

There are 12-15 players who played significant time for us last year that are no longer under contract. And we really haven't done anything to re-sign those guys or find their replacements aside from re-signing Gardner and pursuing Ed Reed. You can't expect to fill all those slots via the draft and you really don't want that many rookies seeing significant time anyway.

    More Kubiak:

**We had (Reed) in. Felt that went good. That will take some time. We're very much involved. We have a need there. We'll go about it the right way. No panic. Trying to make the team better as we go towards the draft. ... Shiloh, we liked the way he progressed. Eddie, we have always thought he has a bright future. If a player makes a jump, it usually is between year 1 and 2.

**On Posey and Martin and Jean? (Those names don't get mentioned now, do they? Posey, possibly a middle of the season player. He's doing well and has a bright future. I thought Keyshawn had a good year. He got tired week 11 or 12. His rookie year was promising. Lestar started off fast and played well early. Posey came on. We'll go into camp right now, we have an open spot across from Andre and someone will have to step up and take it.

**Derek Newton, if we were practicing today, he wouldn't be able go. We'll see. That position, it's something we continue to look at. We did re-sign Gardner. Harris is someone we're still interested in. We love our LT.

**Right now, trying to get Sharpton healthy again. Hopefully Dobbins comes back. You can look at that spot(ILB) like you do at WR.

**Earl Mitchell played a lot, played like a starter the last 5-6 weeks. He's ready to make a jump and we're counting on him.

**You gotta learn. We've been taking a few steps the last 2 years. You gotta learn a lot about yourself and your team but it's about figuring a way to get back there.

**As a coach, as hard as this past week has been losing players, it's a proud moment too. You get these guys out of college and see them get this opportunity, as tough as it is for us, happy for them. Gotta continue to have strong drafts.

**Whats next after this meeting? We're about ready to go into draft meetings. Right now, you continue to sort through FA. That's day to day. Big prep on the draft right now.

    Bob McNair:

What has jumped out at you?

One of the things is the great emphasis on fan engagement. That is something we pay a lot of attention too. To make them feel involved and part of the team. We're looking at every way as a league and the Texans to make it more exciting in person. .... You can't get the excitement or electric feel or sound vibrating through the stadium at home. It has to be a pleasurable experience. We want the fans to enjoy the moment.

Biggest video board in the world, on each end of the end zones.

Absolutely. That's for our fans. We want them to have a lot of info. We'll be able to show multiple things and if they play fantasy football, let them keep up with that. To have better images. More replay. Make sure they get everything at the stadium they can get from a visual standpoint and more than that they get at home.

    Ed Reed latest?

We understand that Ed likes the Texans and would like to be with us and we'd like him. Our people are talking. Hopefully we work something out. If not, we'll find others. He's not the only safety. We'll be fine.

    Thoughts on the departures?

One of the problems with winning is everyone covets your players. Because on a winning team, there's a natural tendency for others to think they are better than they really are. Everyone on our team can't be paid as a starter. We'll always have players that the market might say they're worth more than they really are.

    Message to the fans?

I think we will better. That's the plan. You have to look at is as multiple years. Next year, Cushing and Watt are coming up. If we signed these other players, it would have created real problems to keep Cushing and Watt. We're gonna keep the core players and fill in as we need to.

    WR need.

It is. We'll look to the draft to get more speed on the outside. We think it's there. We done a good job in the draft. We'll continue building the team in the draft. We'll pick up vets here and there that are reasonably priced. We want to play well every year, not just this year.

Always fun playing Translate the Texans

We maintain our absurd love affair with hit-first, cover-never Shiloh Keo. Don't get your hopes up for a safety in rounds 1 or 2.

Forget about Posey for 2013 - he'll see the field about the same as he did in 2012 if he's lucky. We pretty much have squat at WR2 right now.

We love our LT. RT, not so much. Our standards are low enough to think Ryan Harris and Andrew Gardner can contribute, despite being unmitigated disasters.

You can look at that spot(ILB) like you do at WR. A gaping hole. In the head.

We don't care that this position was something of a weak point last year and are going to downgrade it from Cody/Mitchell to Mitchell/Crick and hope that Cushing's back to catch the high volume of runs straight up the middle.

The league tells us more and more fans are staying home to watch the game because it's cheaper and they can follow the other 8 early games without buying our $8 beers or $7 hot dogs. That freaks me out! I don't know what these football fantasies are about, but we'll put them up on the screens if that keeps the fans in the stadium. I still remember the revenue reports from 2005, so...hell no.

I didn't make my money bidding against myself. You want to be ridiculously overpaid? You better be a mediocre QB or coach up for an extension.

I made sure, personally, that Kevin Walter's ID badges were taken from him and Gary's phone is being monitored to ensure no contact.
