I don't give a **** what anyone says, Lana Del Rey is one of the best things to happen to "alternative" rock in a while. I love her style and i'm glad there is good "new" music shifting back to that Americana vibe. The melancholy and bittersweet undertones really do it for me. <br> Spoiler <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Bag1gUxuU0g" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <br> Florence Welch is another one who I think is pretty good nowadays. If you haven't heard Calvin Harris' song "Sweet Nothing" featuring her, you should check it out: Spoiler <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/NnIzbukJOHQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <br> And I agree with those who have mentioned Leona Lewis and Adele. I gotta give props to Lady Gaga too. Because honestly, she single handedly brought pop music back to life a few years ago. <br> That being said though, I have no words to describe how much I HATE Pink. How do people listen to that garbage? I hate that the times I turn on the radio, she ends up being on at least 3 stations -_-
I thought Floetry was good. . . but I have not had enough time to look at their individual efforts Rocket River
Esperanza is pretty good. Had the fortune to play with her a couple of times. Sometimes little gimmicky for my taste, and not the best bassist, but thats just nitpicking. She definitely has talent. As for the best modern female singer right now, I'd have to go with Gretchen Parlato. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/WYN4I6YHCfA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I also like Me'shell Ndegeocello and Dominique Eadue. However, this is labeled female musicians and not just singers, this could go into an entirely different realm.
