I noticed that against other teams too. We struggle on the follow up fast break by the opponent if we miss because they've still got guys trailing. It's a double edge sword.
That's why it's critical to execute well on the fast break and score. So you get a bit more time to get back.
I did that. For the last six games since TRob started to play in the Bucks game, we have lost 10.1 points per game in firepower from the PF and PG (with Beverley replacing Toney Douglas as the backup PG) position. Besides TRob's low scoring, Beverley not scoring a single point in the last three games has been the biggest surprise. DMo has been great for the number of minutes he's been playing. In addition to scoring, the drop in defensive rebounding is another area of concern.
Teams are attacking Harden and D-Mo off the pick and roll, becoming very effective because D-Mo has been slow getting back to guard the opposing big. Also, both D-Mo and Asik DO NOT like going out of the paint to close out stretch forwards.
We have the worst records against the fastest-paced teams this season, even though we lead the league in pace since December. We were 8-15 against teams #2-10; 12-8 vs #11-20 and 14-7 vs #21-30. The Mavs is #5.
The five-man unit of Lin, Harden, Parsons, DMo and Asik has been the best defensive lineup giving up only 0.78 points per possession. That may have to do with having both Asik and DMo at low post.
