Their size, length and skills have a lot of uncanny similarities and are both on two of the best contracts in the league (I think George is making a little bit over 2 million this year with a 2 year option).

Right now George is the better player and has a slight advantage on Parsons when it comes to hops, George is also a great defender while Parsons is merely a good defender, but I honestly believe Parsons's defense can get to George's level in a couple of years, or just a slight notch below if never as good. George's defense took a big jump from last season, so I see no reason why Parson's can't next season. Parsons is the better shooter though and I think will also improve his rebounding when he adds a bit more muscle.

What do you think down the road?

Chandler isn't in Paul George's class as an athlete and he's actually 2 years older. I do think there are some similarities in their games right now, but George has considerably more upside IMO. One thing to keep in mind with Parsons is that the pace we play at inflates his offensive numbers somewhat. The Pacers play at a much slower pace and George has to do most of his damage against set defenses.

I think Parsons can get to the point where he's as good as George is now, but I'd be surprised if he was a better player two years down the road.

Basically the bolded part, which is what sets the role players and stars apart. That, and George's defense hasn't suffered from taking on a mjor offensive role.

1st since it is not Lin related you ain't getting many responses.;)
2nd by "best contracts", you mean underpaying a player consisting a "good contract"?

Anyway, from the numbers they are very similar. I hope they both become elite players down the road.

About this much cited "fast pace inflate numbers". You need to comparing "individual pace" rather than "team pace".

Parsons takes 12.2 shots per game while George take 15.1. Apparently it is George who inflates his numbers by individual fast pacing.

You are basing this on a miniscule difference in 3pt % and one guy is a top 2 / go to guy who has to take tough shots at times and the other a role player. Might as well say that Parsons is a better shooter than Harden.

In the end, George is younger, more athletic and much longer, and he's considerably farther ahead right now as a player.

I don't know where Parsons ends up as a player, but unless George gets some sort of injury and becomes a worse player at 24 than he is now at 22, i don't see Parsons catching him in two years.

Offensively Parsons is near his level but inflated numbers due to pace

Parsons takes it. This shouldn't even be a discussion.

    Plus he's so hot.

I think right now the only thing separating the two is defense. They are similar offensive players who are good 3 point shooters but pauls defense is near elite whereas parsons is just average right now. I think if chandler can get stronger in the offseason, his defense will improve drastically.

parsons is a much better offensive player. George may be better at defense, so I'd say they are some how equal player right now.

Down the road, since George is younger and it is easier to improve offensive skills, George probably will be better.

    2012/2013 season

    Parsons: 0.485 in FG%, 0.396 in 3P%, 12.2 FGA, 15.4 PPG.
    George: 0.424 in FG%, 0.385 in 3P%, 15.1 FGA, 17.1 PPG.

If Parsons took the same amount shots as George, he would be averaging over 19 points a game.

"Usage" is the word I think you are looking for. George is at 22.4% and Parsons is at 17.2%.

And aside: I love the picture has George being fouled by two players.

Paul George can create his own shot while Parsons can not YET. Parson has a slow first step.

I was one of the first to be on the Parson's bandwagon, but I do recognize his short comings. If some somehow he gets a go to move, picks a pull up jumper, and finishes at the rim a little better. He could be a face of the franchise type player.

Remember that people used to refer to AI as "pound for pound best player in the L"?

Well, I refer to Parsons as "dollar for dollar" he's the best player in the L. This will stay this way for next 2 years.
