I don't think anyone is claiming he's a saint, just that they don't agree that what you pointed out was a big deal. Please, no more pounds for Mo. I prefer the thinner version.
It's not about MoT being bad, it's about EG being worse. Right now, EG does nothing that we can't do without. Yao improves tremendously with MoT in the line up and what we need is a better Yao. Griffin would be a great bench player that blocks shots and hits the occasional 3.
It's frustrating to see Yao getting all these triple team, double team, and the other guys can't make them pay. So to throw Yao off his game is pretty simple, leave EG or JP open and help double and triple team him. They're betting EG or JP can't hit anything, just for this disrepect alone, I would work my ass off doing jump shot. It looks like they have not improved. What's the deal? Rice is a decent shooter, however he can't defend anybody. I say let's try to start Mo T and see what happens. Griffin needs to do more practice shooting and learn from the bench.
Crisco, I am therefore more qualified to warn folks about the fool's gold. I have all the games and I have yet to see MoT hold his own against any top notch PF. The things is it is asplain as day why he cannot. He is slow and short with no jumping ability.
I think mo should start so he can score along with yao and griffin come off the bench for the defense since he cant score
So do you just not WANT to watch the MARCH 17, 2001 game against the Spurs, or do you just prefer to not acknowledge that MoT more than held his own against Tim Duncan?
Taylor has all we want from a PF, youngness, skill, toughness, right attitude, team work. I love him. Start him please.
Taylor should be starting, he deserves it more than Griffin. After you build his confidence up, theres no other way but up.
Uhh.....WELL START GLEN RICE. We need Glen Rice with Yao...we need AT LEAST ONE PERSON who can actually shoot with Yao. Yao can pass it out to Rice for the three!!!!!!!! He doesn't do that much with Posey. But...it seems like Posey will be starting for the remainder of they ear. Actually, yesterday, Eddie Griffin was not as terrible as he usually is. He is USUALLY 3-10. YESTERDAY...he was 4-9!!!!!!!! WHOOOO. What a great improvement.
Let me guess, Compgeek, you don't play professional basketball for a living. If that's true, then your "work place" example is a terrible analogy. Professional basketball is a fiercely competitive endeavor. Teammates try to perform their best, and they get frustrated when things don't go right. Every day, all they have to do is look at the final score to see how they did. Mo Taylor was ENTIRELY within his bounds to direct Yao to rotate and assist on defense. Did you ever watch Jordan play? He'd always yell at his teammates to coach them on the court. No hard feelings. While Mo is no Jordan, he's a big man who can teach Yao the NBA game until the Rockets hire Moses to tutor him during the off season. But Mo knows what everybody else knows about exploiting the Rockets' defense. Make Yao switch on a pick to a guard out near the perimeter, and he just sits there hoping that he doesn't trip the way that he did when Marbury embarassed him at the beginning of the season. This has left too many guards open for shots, and they've been going in. Yao needs to trust that his teammates will rotate to his man when he rotates to challenge another teammates' guy. Lately, he's been too focused on boxing his own man out to prevent him from getting the offensive rebound. It's a team thing, and the coaches need to do a better job of teaching it.
YAO.......about him. God. His defense has been terrible. He only intimidates people. But all these centers and people have been assaulting him. Mo Taylor should still stay on the bench. Not our decision...Rockets BELIEVE in Eddie. BUT GLEN RICE REALLY NEEDS TO START.
Are you talking about Yao? I'm not so sure whether Yao got his offensive rebounds by boxing his teamates out. But there is one thing I'm pretty sure, i.e. Yao is the last guy in Rockets needing to be told it's a team thing!
I pretty much feel what others have said Mo doesn't need to start because we need some type of offensive spark off the bench i mean where else is gonna come from on our second unit.
Huh? The last time I checked, Wizard's center Hayhood scored exactly 0 point last night playing 34 minutes. You might think his defence is bad because you always find him trying to cover for some one else's player (usually Eddie's). -G'day-
No dude. I wasn't talking about Yao's offensive rebounding. I was talking about Yao's defense and how he's focused more on boxing out his man (Haywood and Battie from the past two games) to prevent them from getting the offensive rebound; rather, than rotate to help guard his teammates' man (e.g., Pierce and Jordan) who broke them down. And even though Yao is more of a team player than anyone else on the Rockets' roster, that doesn't mean that he can't improve his own play by relying on his teammates (and the offensive / defensive scheme) more.
Yao mentioned in the interview he had to cover eddie's ass on the defensive end so many times. he the eddie the same thing 10 times and he still made the same mistake the 11th time. omfg.
No I'm not a professional baller, are you? Amazing how a few minutes of hotness can buy someone a lot of leeways. The same defensive expert made a stupid tap foul on Jordan a moment earlier to give him a three point play. Should Yao yell at him:"You stupid jerk, if you wanted to foul, foul him hard"? That won't solve a thing. Everyone knows it a lapse.
lol. I'm a professional baller........ OKAY. Yao's defense. RECENTLY, most centers have been scoring against him. Haywood maybe not. But Haywood's job was mainly to set picks. Of course Yao does an okay job one on one. BUT he needs to have a strategy to prevent others from scoring.....like the pick and rolls and stuff. He needs to learn how to stop it and not let teams use it the entire day. Our whole team needs to improve their defense. I agree with everyone. Taylor should not start. He is our only offense off the bench. BUT RICE SHOULD START.
Taylor is a better defender than Eddie (as others have pointed out, coming out to the three point line on defensive switches last night is a prime example of why he's better) Taylor is a better offensive player (not even close here, Eddie GET OFF OF THE THREE POINT LINE) Taylor is a better passer (also not even close -- I don't think I've ever seen Eddie make a pass other than swinging it to the other side at the three point line) I know Eddie needs PT to get better and all that, but come on, does anyone else feel like he's actually getting worse? Maybe a little pine time is exactly what he needs to get him revitalized. Bottom line, START TAYLOR NOW!
