If it's *really* necessary to comment... I saw the first half . So you're half right. My neighbor has league pass, so when he's watching... good. When he's out, my tough luck. What I did see was a consistent lack of creativity in getting Yao involved in the offense. Of course, I didn't see the "stunning" comeback. Which, of course, means that all the ****ty offense in the 1st half is forgiven. Whatever.
Free Agent: Just think you should know, I don't think Bill Walton is the one who coined the quote in your profile...
Forgive me if this has already been said... Against Boston Yao played 40 minutes and had TWO field goal attempts. That's stupid. And no...I don't give a damn who won that game, because while playing like this, the Rox will NEVER be a playoff team. THAT is what I care about. I can see it now...during a Rockets timeout... Rudy: Cat...get the ball down low to Yao. Cat: But Coach...he's already shot the ball this half...it's MY turn!!!!!!!
I think Sportcenter's pressure forced the guards to give Ming 15 shots against New York. I remember last time it also had a similar effect. Let's see what will happen vs Wizards.
We shouldn't care who scores more than the other. But why people want to see Yao take more shots and score more? It's because for a big man, a center to score, he typically has to get the ball from his teammates in good position, and he typically will score on layups, dunks or jumpers in close range. So, his scoring is a result of good teamwork and running the offense, and who is going to criticize him for taking such easy shots? Who is going to critcize teamwork? On the flip side, when Francis (or Mobley for that matter) goes for 30-40, he can do so all by himself or just by going 1-on-1 and many of his points come from impossible shots, long-range shots, and shots that, at least in my opinion, he flat out should not take. Of course, when he's hot, he makes them, but that doesn't make them good shots. I mean I don't mind our guards taking shots while they're hot but what I dislike most is when Francis brings the ball up and shoots without ever passing. That takes his teammates totally out of the offensive flow and rhymth. When I watch the Lakers play, even Kobe who many people labled as selfish (which I don't agree) during his incredible scoring streak rarely does he bring the ball up and shoot without passing. That's good basketball, team basketball. And we Rockets as a team are obviously not at that level yet.
so your saying its not because NY had yao 1 on 1 but its was sportcenter that got yao the ball???? you have mad yao disease!! is everything a conspiracy with you??
when was the last time either of them shot 30-40 shots??? and how many did they end up hitting??? and did we win???
I meant 30-40 pts. You obviously didn't get what I meant. Okay we won that game. But you think that type of performance would get us into the playoffs, would get us 50+ wins or eventually get us the rings? We should always look for improvement even when we win. Settle for mediocrity or easily getting satisfied wouldn't make you the best.
when are you not sarcastic???? and for me this years mistakes are not going to dictate how the rockets are going to look for the next 10 years... francis and yao both are still young, they are going to grow together and that is a good thing.. championships take time to build, this team does not have all the pieces to the puzzle, but steve mobley and yao are going to be apart of it... all this team needs is experience, either through time or free agent... and since we still have big contract not being used right we are stuck with the saying "we got more time than money" chew on this.. in the last 12 or 13 years there have been only 4 champions
the Rox have risen from the divine white cloud like the ascension of billowing steam from pile of s*** on a bright and brisk winter day full of potential. They are past the ****ty team stage right now, and are barely hovering, all gooey and smelly and steamin, above the white cloud threatening to sink them back in the odiferous soft mire of professional sport team-wrecks .
Where were the adjustments? I still see the Wizards continually getting the exact same shots their hitting the whole night. Does Rudy just expect them to cool off? By the time that happens it'll be too late.
If that post didn't make any sense to you, then I suggest tuning into a few games. When your starting center plays 40 minutes and only has 2 FG attempts...that's usually indicative of this little thing we on Earth call a problem.
Don't be sad. It's all expected. As said previously in this thread, every big win will be followed by ...well, a couple of bad loss. There are still hope but short sighted won't bring you playoff tickets. Learn from your success, stop celebrating 'big come backs'!
