wow. that is so freaking sad on espnla i heard the postgame on 710 espn radio saying how they should be "proud" of last nights loss and how the score didn't dictate the game. meanwhile they gave up 71 and 67 points in the first halves of last night and tonight's games edit: in fairness- the article didn't say anything about proving anything against the west elite, unless they cowardly removed that since it was published. wouldn't be surprised.

Speaking from my own opinion, I don't think it's that we're scared the Rockets will make the playoffs. I would see it more as just not wanting the Lakers to make it. If they don't make it, it'll be seen as a huge failure, and may slightly increase our chances of getting Dwight. I'm watching every Lakers game I can and not liking what I'm seeing lately. I think they'll definitely overtake the Jazz. But then again, seeing them get whooped by the Spurs/Thunder won't be so bad.
We hate the Lakers, Spazz, and Mavs. If all 3 could miss the playoffs, it would be majorly delightful. Don't tell me seeing a Lakers team with huge names miss the playoffs isn't awesome, because it is.

The original headline on the front page that linked to that article was "Lakers prove they can compete with West's Elite" yesterday morning. Granted the writer of the article doesn't always write the headlines that are posted on the front page, but it was still silly.
I'd definitely rather see a Laker v Thunder series, otherwise all offseason the talking heads will bring up how if LA had made the playoffs they might have made some 'noise'.
