I will never understand players or coaches who say this kind of stuff. You have nothing to gain from it.

Jason Terry tattooed the nba championship trophy with the mavs before the season and won the nba title.

    They were actually contenders...

This actually doesn't make sense at all, especially from a team in the NFC where you have tier 1 teams like the Packers and Bears and tier 2 teams like the Niners, Giants, Falcons, Lions, and Saints.

Unless some of these teams suffer major injuries, the Panthers have no shot at the playoffs.

The Bears are a tier 1 team and the Giants and Saints are not?

Talent-wise I don't consider the Saints to be. Giants are so unpredictable for me.. especially for the regular season. I should make a couple of corrections to that though... Niners belong in Tier 1, and I forgot to add the Eagles to tier 2. But really doesn't matter how you rank those teams, the whole point was to show how many teams are really more talented than the Panthers right now going into the season. They'd need some help with injuries and some really good play from unexpected players on their team. Falcons and Saints... and hell even the Bucs look pretty good this season. Their division will be hard to play, let alone trying to play the rest of their schedule. Looks pretty tough.

I don't disagree with that. I don't think the Panthers are even a playoff team this season.

I think the Panthers are underrated. They lost 10 games last year, but 6 were within 1 possession, and 4 of those were in the first half of the season with a QB with no experience at all. They got dramatically better as the season progressed, and they don't have a terribly difficult schedule this year.

I agree they were kind of underrated last year for being a team with a top 10 offense. Here are the games I find that'll be tough for them to win assuming all of these teams are healthy.

    Week 2 - Saints
    Week 3 - Giants
    Week 4 - @Falcons
    Week 8 - @Bears
    Week 10 - Broncos
    Week 12 - @Eagles
    Week 17 - @Saints

Assuming they lost all of those and didn't lose any of the other ones, they'd go 9-7. I think for an NFC WC spot, you'll need at least 10 wins this season. I just really don't think they have enough to make the playoffs in this tough NFC this year.

I agree those are the tough games - and I don't think they are a Superbowl contender, but I think they'll be contending for the playoffs. If they win 2 of those games, that's potentially 11 wins. It's rare in the NFL for all the teams that were projected to be good to actually be good, so chances are some of those tough games don't turn out to be so tough. As you said, the Giants seem to be a mystery every year. I don't know what to expect from the Saints and all their turmoil. Philly may or may not have a QB by week 12. So there's a lot of potential there for them to at least be in the playoff mix.

I posted this, but I dont see it happening.
I dont know if Cam is going to get a sophmore slump, or if teams are already more prepared to beat him, maybe it was just preseason, but they didnt impressed me a lot.

Also besides Steve Smith, which WR do they have?
    top 10 defense, idk.

I think the cowboys have more chance to make it than the panthers.
the cowboys almost made it, if two or three plays goes their way, they could have won the division, and the giants would have been eliminated.

Unfortunate for Kalil that he won't be part of the Panthers Super Bowl run, not this year. Placed on IR with a foot injury.

They need to stop going so far out on the limb.

Be more realistic like... Matt Ryan: "We will choke in the playoffs as the #1 seed."
