just for the record i never told her i had a crush on her

the message was through facebook because i didn't get a card and it stated that i had the experience she wanted.

i knew that it would be an issue, i totally misread what she wanted when i said what my experience was mostly. there are two sides to the job and i have most ly one side and would rather do that side.

most people in the field i'm in want the other side.

its credit, and there's running credit and there is collectiions. in business most companies really want collection people which quite honestly a job anyone can do. these jobs usually pay well.

i had three interviews at one company over a span of three years. a major oil field services company, i first interviewed with the top manager, she wanted collections. about a year later i interviewed with the person right under her, and she said she wanted collections. then i had a phone interview with an hr person at another time in which i basically said stopped wasting my time.

well i've been interviewing four years, i've had two contract jobs and another offer i blew. i started a thread on it. the offer i blew was an interview with the second woman at said company. she really wanted someone with my experience at said compny but that's not what her boss wanted. she got a position as manager at an up and coming oil field services company and wanted to run it her way. she wanted me to be her like right hand person. and i blew it.

okay, i see the agency is posting this job again. the job is in laporte and i think from the updated description that was a problem for the person who they hired. should i contact this person through facebook and make a personal appeal? could it hurt if i was actually considered again?

I think you should. Dude, it could make a significant difference and in today's job market everyone needs some sort of edge, at worst she is annoyed by a person who is enthusiastic about trying to get his paper. If so, that's on her not you.

I'm not in your shoes but based on what I read, the choice is pretty simple.

"I've had THREE interviews at one company over a span of three yrs"

I've been recruiting for twenty yrs. I can understand interviewing possibly twice at one company, but THREE times? Wake the hell up....they don't want you!!!!

i'm going to answer you reasonably. on unemployment you don't turn down interviews. all interviews were with different people. the third i basically told them don't waste my time as i wrote in the post you responded to. i know people like to be funny but this is my ****ing livelyhood so don't be an ass

Try again, you have nothing to lose.

At the same time, you should be sending out your resume left and right and all over the place. You could also post it here (in a somewhat anonymized format, so that people who are not supposed to cannot figure out your real identity), I think there are quite a few people here, especially dandorotik, who could give you good feedback on your CV and how to make it look good.

It sounds like you haven't applied to enough places. Just do it.

Also, if this lady turns you down again, it seriously is time to put her pics back up, because she won't hire you anyway, and I missed it last time you uploaded them.

    Good luck.

thanks jackie i actually get a lot of interviews closing the deal is the problem. sometimes i come on two strong i have recently started to figure out. for instance two months ago and about a year and a half ago, two separate companies i was told i'm very thorough in the interview in talking about myself, but i didn't hear back from either company

Do you have any friends whom you trust and who could do a mock interview with you and whose honest feedback would not offend you? Maybe they have some good advice about how you come across in an interview - I guess sometimes there are subtle things one would not notice oneself, but which might not be helpful in getting a job.

I recently interviewed someone who told me he sued his previous employer. Needless to say that I didn't hire the guy.

not disputing anything in this post and its actually the first i've ever seriously considered practicing. Howeva, if you read the post about me blowing the opportunity that i started another thread about, sometimes especially in this job market its all about the perfect match. and the opportunity i blew, it was damn near it, it definitely was for the employer, and it was 90% perfect for me. when the opportunity is there you can't blow it.

but interviewing better would provide a few more offers i'm sure. sometimes i'm more qualified than the person hiring and i don't know how to get over that because that's almost always a deal killer i can tell even though they never will admit

I know this sounds like generic blah-blah, but I think an applicant's chances for getting hired are best when he/she comes across as confident but humble, focused but not tense, and generally charming and friendly while not appearing to be a brown-noser.

I might be wrong, but it seems to me like when one is very very sure that something is 90 or 100 % perfect, one might almost be too tense (or intense) rather than relaxed.

Anyway, I sincerely hope your job search will go well and you will find something you are happy with. Don't hold a grudge over missed opportunities, just try (as you are doing) to learn from them for the next ones which will surely come. Sometimes it's also just bad luck and you don't need to torture yourself over it.

I'm in graduate school and had a couple of inter-ships during my undergrads. Even though it may differ from your field, (I'm chem engineering) do you use the STAR technique? I learned it a long time ago during my sophomore year interviewing for engineering internships.

It helped me tremendously, I'm not sure if you know about it or not as i don't have experience in other fields. I'd assume they would have some parallels though..

But alas I wish you good luck!
