http://espn.go.com/nba/powerrankings I think Stein nailed his rankings. I think the Rockets at #8 in the NBA is right on the money. Who would have thought the Rockets would be this good at the start of the season.
9 Los Angeles 30-30 10 New York 35-21 11 Boston 31-27 12 Chicago 34-26 ----- Four big market franchise right under us,
I was going to cut back on my Rockets activities this year thinking the team wouldn't be making waves....happily that's not happening. Still stratching my head trying to figure out how this happened soooo fast.
I was surprised we didn't slip at all since he had us there last week and we dropped 2 games since then. This is an exciting team for sure.
It looks fair. New York has been slipping. Chicago is really banged up. LA is getting there but no.9 looks right.
Too bad it didn't mention how many games the Rockets allowes 100+ points in a season. It is 39 games so far, almost 2/3 of all games played.
The Rockets give up 104.7 pts per 100 possessions (24th). It's not good, but not really that bad either considering you have teams like Miami giving up 101.3 pts per 100 (10th) and New York 103.3 pts per 100 (15th).
it's almost impossible for the rox not to give up 100+ points when they emphasize on playing fast and getting as many possessions as possible
My only question after seeing the ranking is why the hell have we played more games than so many other teams?
I mean NY played 56 gamses? Miami 57? How have we basically played 2 more weeks worth of games than them??
The question is will next season the Rockets be able to pass the grizzled, nuggets and pacers of the world?
I think point differential is a good indicator of how effective your offense is in relation to your defense. Does it really matter that you hold teams to 89 PPG if your team only scores 87 PPG? Not only are you really bad but your probably really boring. I'll gladdly give up the 103.7 as long as the team is scoring 107.1 for a 3.4 PPG differintial.
