What do you think? If one of those get injured for the remainder of the regular season, are Rockets screwed?

Of course, who takes over at center if Omer is out? Our defense will suffer. If harden is out, we'd have to rely more on bench players to start and we would lose some scoring. Would we have a chance? Yeah definitely. Is it likely? In my opinion, no

Why worry about injuries though? A lot of teams are like that, if they lose their star player theyre screwed

Obviously we'd be screwed. But just like if any other teams top players got injured for the rest of the year.

Yes, of course. A team that is just over .500 losing its two best players? Remember when Yao and Tracy were both out at the same time?

You just never know who may step up when someone goes down. Look at Rondo and recently the Cavs who beat the Bulls and Raptors without Irving, when people claim Irving's supporting cast is trash.

The most important Rockets never ever get injured.

My wording must've been wrong. What I meant was: would Rockets make the playoffs if Harden OR Asik sits out the remainder of the regular season?

You could make the case that we are probably the 2nd worst team in the NBA(Bobcats) if either of them is out. One is the catalyst on offense, the other on D.

I already said this once before, but Asik is the one that will have the biggest effect on the teams overall performance. When Asik is on his game, this team will look like playoff contenders. When Asik is off, this team will look like a scrub team.

Harden is my favorite player, but I'd argue he's not as important as Asik on the team. When Harden is off, there are still other scorers on the team that can get the job done, though not as efficient. But when Asik is off, there are no other defenders that will get the job done. That's why we can sit Harden or Lin or Parsons for a whole game and the team will still look decent, but when we sit Asik for a whole game, the team looks like they are incompetent.

They don't rely in Asik enough. He's averaging only 30 minutes per game.

    No.

They are 'relying to heavily' on Harden, not Asik.

Agree. And Jason Fiedman's tweet proved your point:
    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Updated Asik effect <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23s">#s</a>: When on floor, HOU D performs at top-12 rate &amp; No. 1 on D. glass. Off floor: HOU D bottom-2, bottom-10 on D. glass.</p>&mdash; Jason Friedman (@JasonCFriedman) <a href="https://twitter.com/JasonCFriedman/status/307233736255213568">February 28, 2013</a></blockquote>

We desperately need T-Rob, or the new signing Ohlbrecht to step up big defensively whenever Asik goes to rest or in case Asik gets injured.

You, at the least, need to be a top 4 team in your conference to be able to weather an injury to one of your key players and still make the playoffs.

We are not a top 4 team in our conference.

    Harden and scrubs on offense.

    Asik and scrubs on defense.

    Yeah...

    100% no.

Not only is Omer our only player who plays a shred of defense, but then we'd be relying on the completely inconsistent Jeremy Lin as our primary offensive threat. We'd be screwed.

A case could be made that, without Asik and Harden, we are in the Bottom 5 teams in the entire league.

    Whoops....missed the "or"...

Either way I still don't think we make playoffs without one of them.

I think it is obvious we do.

Asik it is understandable since we have no one behind him that can carry the defensive load like he does. Harden, I would hope they easy up on his work load if only so that he doesn't wind up developing injuries down the path like we've seen many a star player wind up getting while wearing a Rockets uniform and just trying to get us into the playoffs or out of certain rounds.
