But the pot can't get away with calling the kettle black. You can't complain about people using offensive nicknames and then turn right around in the same sentence and call them offensive names. It totally destroys any credibility that you might otherwise have had. Plus McFail isn't only used by LOF fans, nor was it started by them. Hundreds of posters referred to it last year when Lin wasn't even on the team.
The criticism from last year is almost the exact opposite from this year, except for the typical substitution crap that you can find on every single fan board in existence. Spurs fans call Popovich, "Popobitch".... The GSW crowd is calling for Marc Jackson's head because of their recent skid and his "substitution patterns". D'antoni gets called out by the media for his substitutions... People last year said that we did entirely too much through the PG spot, and that McHale had elite PG development ability, but a complete disregard for developing any other position. This year, it's that he doesn't know how to develop a PG, but can effectively only develop SGs all of a sudden...
I would have to disagree with you sir. You may be referring to your arguments with the supposed LOFs about the PG stuff, but my beef with McHale has always been about his substitution, rotations and lack of in game skills as a coach. The most important role a coach can have is to manage his players times, rotations and substitution pattern to give them the best chance to win. This is where I think he lacks the most skill at unfortunately. So I don't think this is any different from the same problems he had last year in going with too much small ball. He just doesn't put the best players in position to help us win at the right times enough in crucial time. Other than that, he has actually done a pretty good job.
I work for Enterprise and i had a customer the othee day with the last name McPhail. Definitely made me think of clutchfans right away.
I agree with quite a few posters. Resulting to name calling quickly tells me everything I need to know about a poster, especially something as lame and annoying as "mcfail." Disapproving or approving of a player or coach is one thing, and there's nothing wrong with that, but resulting to name calling and taking things to another level is annoying.
I read this board all last year, and this "McFail" business may have been used occasionally, but not with the same excess and lusty enjoyment that certain 'fans' seem to use it with this year. IMO, 'McFail' is on the same level of intellectual laziness and immaturity as "McLady." Use of "McLady" and "McFail" tell you more about the idiocy of the poster than they do about the abilities of the coach/player. Although, I have to admit 'Van Grumpy' might be the exception in my mind, because Van Gundy seemed to relish his own crankiness so much. I think it was a carefully honed image that he worked hard to preserve.
as soon as adelman left, i knew whoever the next coach would catch hell. mchale is no adelman, but i dont think he is that bad. personally i like mchale and would like to see him stay with this squad until they develop. of course you always have chris finch in the background, in my mind hes the real master mind.
you are beyond r****ds. you called people LOF then you hold higher moral standard for blaming them call your coach? if you just said name calling is bad, I may agree with you. but looked at what you implyed here and other things you said before, you are not the right people to call people out. I have no time to dig your graveyard either.
Personally, I think all the derogatory terms (McFail, the dozen diff ways to spell Morey, etc...) are out of line for a bunch of people who claim to be fans and supporters of the team... Yer supposed to make fun of the OTHER team - not your own.... jus sayin...
In other words, you are saying that there is no LOFs on this board. Right? Otherwise, please give me a single instance that a LOF call him this nickname BECAUSE he doesn't give Lin 48 mins a game. Thank you. The Rockets are leading now in the match against the Mavs, 27:26
I have the same opinion of Mchale.... But we should not call him that nickname although it happens a lot to NBA coaches.
To paraphrase Shakespearre: " What's in a name? A rose , by any other name , would still smell as sweet."
I read this board all last year also. I don't remember "McFail" being used either, though the kinds of people that would say that could easily have been on my ignore list already for some of the namecalling of Battier, Scola, etc. Anyway, I agree with Patience, it certainly didn't happen with such excess and lusty enjoyment. (Man, I hated those people who called Battier and Scola and Martin names. And the things they said about Ariza, I wasn't much of an Ariza fan but oh, it was hateful and he didn't deserve it. Maybe some of those same people have been baiting the Lin fans and I'll just never know it because I never see the posts.) Still, never thought much of the defense "We weren't the first ones to do it!"
You Sir have thrust though and tested the metal of man and flesh. It takes real hate, stupidity, and sometimes anger to strike. Yet so many pretend advantage by name or knowledge and pretend it to be true. You will be know by your actions and not just by your words. I made all of this up.
