LOLwut? Even in the chance where T-rob ends up being Thabeet 2.0, the trade was still good for us because it opened up time for DMO, who apparently plays like Ppat but with MM's aggresiveness. It was already a win either way.

As far as T-rob goes I'm totally disappointed with the lack of production, but his rotations are definitely a good a sign, as is trying to contest every shot. He just need to rebound and play tough D and I'd be satisfied with him. He's still a rookie, scoring will come in time and with practice at the gym.

We could have accomplished the same thing with just the Morris trade.

TRob just adds to the pile of broken toys (White) they owe good money to with the hope that one day they will magically start working again.

Ppat only has one year left on his rookie contract, trading him was the correct move because otherwise he would have left in Free Agency unless we somehow decided to pay him market value which would be in the 5-8M range. T-rob's still a top 5 pick with 3 years left on his contract. Maybe he just needs more time, Derrick Williams looked like a bust last year and the first half of the season but he's been tearing it up as of late. Either way I'd rather have T-rob on a rookie deal for 3 years than Patterson just for this season.

As far as "broken toys" go, they're broken toys DM bought at a very discounted price, it's not like we were the ones who spent a top 5 pick for T-rob in the first place. These guys are low-risk, high reward gambles, obviously most if not all will not pan out but even one guy panning out will be worth the price you paid for all of them combined.

Dont see how any evaluation can be made of Trob after only 2 games removed from SAC.

They should put TRob in DLeague and play TERRENCE.JONES. Who actually has the best defense in our team after Asik, and can rebound. Unless Morey is hiding Jones from teams cause he doesn't want him to be part of a trade. He played everyone except TJones.. fishy.

    Also, this thread is immortal.

Robinson is having some major issues adjusting to the speed of the game, but he is still a gifted prospect and there is still a 50/50 chance he becomes a major contributor in the future.

Dealing Morris would not have been enough because McHale would have given PPat 35 mins a night.

Terrence Jones is potentially a Scottie Pippen type of player. He has the most potential. Even surpass Parsons.

Man, i don't understand why everyone thinks they are the best at evaluating talent...if you are so good at this go get a job in the NBA...before Tjones it was play DMo before that its was play Morris before that it was play Twill before that it was play blah blah blah...Maybe the coach is not playing someone because he is not ready or needs more time to develop...

^ This. Take a look at the wolf(D-mo) for example. He had no playing time before because he wasn't ready. They had to send him to the D league many times before putting him on the rotation and as a starter. People seriously go high on players a lot.

Exactly. His defense was better than Dmo's but b/c he didn't score 17 pts then he's trash to a lot of people. So what if he had 2 TOs when the team averages close to 20 every single game.

People are upset b/c we're barely hanging on to a playoff spot so there's no room for error. That is the worst situation for a rookie whose on a new team trying to develop his game. He needs TIME. Just like Dmo, Smith, Morris and Patterson needed time. Just b/c he was drafted #5 doesn't mean he suppose to come in and right away be the best PF on the team.

Give him at least a summer, training camp with the team, and some Dleague time before we label him a bust.

So how do you guys like T-Rob at the 5? There was a period of time last game where it looked liked he was playing the 5 and Dmo the 4. I'm intrigued.

When T-Rob plays the 4 with there are spacing issues. Often it seems that T-rob wants to go the same positions that Asik or Smith take. But at the 5 with Dmo as the stretch 4 those problems go away, and then it's just a matter of whether he's good enough to play center. He seemed to do ok, but didn't spend enough time there for me to form much of an opinion. So how about T-Rob as our J.J. Hickson?

I like Greg Smith, but he still fouls way to much. He plays hard defense, racks up a bunch of quick fouls, then plays soft. There are people on this forum that don't like T-Rob jumping over T.Jones, but how about T-Rob potentially taking Smith's minutes?

Asik needs help. We all know that.

I agree with this mostly. It was a gamble that he would be ready to contribute, at least not be a liability, as a role player in the rotation immediately. If if he proves he cant handle things right now, I still like the trade and the chances are decent he will in the future. But we ARE in a playoff race, and not only is our #8 seed unsecured, but the club would like to get the 6th or 7th seed. Trying to bring along someone right now is hard on the team and on Robinson. But Morey handed Mchale and Co. this problem, and so it must be dealt with. Only time will tell how steep or shallow Robinson's learning curve will be. I am afraid that he will be given only a short time to prove himself worthy, especially if Utah maintains the 7th seed ahead of us and the Lakers show continued signs of improving.

Rebounding should be instinctive, I don't think anybody can really "learn" how to track a bouncing ball and box out other players at the same time. If T. Robinson, as athletic as he is, has difficulty getting into position after a missed shot .... I think it's a bigger problem that can't be fixed in one season.

He played for a well coached NCAA team the Kansas Jayhawks .... he should be able to rebound the ball like other rookies like Jared Sullinger.

D-Mo isn't physically strong enough to get many rebounds, but you can tell he is trying his best and is mostly in the right place after a missed shot.

Smith and Asik are Houston's best rebounders.

So eventually he's going to call out other players, demand a trade, and be hated in Houston for the rest of his life?
