Drewdog has a date..... need some advice

I think a single rose is classy. I have in the past gone to the restaurant before hand and left the rose on her seat at the table before I picked her up, that would work.

As far as what to do after dinner, what does she like? You could go to a nice jazz bar and have some, or scotch, or whatever and listen to some music. You could go to a Martini bar and have a couple drinks there.

Everyone is different, so depending on what she likes go with that.

 

Since it's the first date, I would NOT pay more than $25/person on dinner.

I agree about the flowers, no flowers. She could be some psycho that will try and read way more into the gesture than you intended. Woman already do that, but some are worse than the norm.

I think the key to the first date is to keep it simple. Dinner, movie, and then a coffee shop where you guys can chill and talk.

On a sidenote, when I go out on first dates, it's rather silly and trite, but I always try and "relieve" myself. It's just a mental thing, I feel much more relaxed.

He's known the girl since High School, come on. If she was a psycho, he'd know it by now. Go with a flower if it is a girl you know, if it is a stranger, stay away from ti.

 

Here's some advice...girls really don't like it when you talk about yourself in the third person.

Drewdog, read to the ideas here, and take and use what you think is good for you. Nobody else but you and the girl are going on this date. As far as the dreaded "friend zone", some girls want to have a friendship that grows into something more, and some girls want the guy to sweep her off her feet. It's a crap shoot, partner. Be yourself.

 

dress up like a mime and play charades with her all night. Never say a word.

 

No flowers. Just be a gentleman and treat her like she's the only person in the restaraunt. Don't do a movie afterwards...you'll just be sitting in the dark for 2 hours unable to talk.

Btw, all good dates end in a hot tub...at least from what I can tell by watching on Blind Date every day.

I guess it depends on what your looking for...meaningless sex or a long term relationship. If you want a long term relationship sweep her off her feet.

If you want meaningless sex, go cheap and drunk!

PF Changs is a good choice because you'll know doubt have a chance to talk before the meal because there's always a wait.

 

Here's where I'll get serious: The lettuce wraps are a good date food, but don't forget about the pan fried shrimp dumplings....not very filling, but boy do they taste great.

I can't say enough good things about the pin rice noodle soup, but that's probably not the best date food.....who wants to here sluuuuurp on the first date.....other than you......and that really shouldn't be at the restaurant.

If you like chocolate, the Great Wall of Chocolate would be great to share. It's actually incredible; not something you expect with dessert at Asian restaurants....then again, PF Changs is pretty American.

 

Going for coffee after dinner, and maybe a movie, sounds like the best advice. If you like her and want the relationship to go somewhere DON"T KISS HER GOODNIGHT. Really, it works both ways for you. If she would prefer the swept-off-her-feet routine it will keep her guessing. And if she prefers to get to know you through a friendship that turns into something more then she'll appreciate it.
