I would rather give Yao a $15 mill 1-yr deal and see if he could spot Asik than to give Bynum even $5 million for one season.

I'd give him a 5 year MAX contract.... as long as years 2, 3, 4 and 5 were team options.... o/w not worth the risk....

Nice subtle bias. Real fair that you're comparing Asik positives to Bynum negatives.

If we offer Bynum (or Gasol or anyone not named Dwight) a contract, it will likely be a one year deal (or one with a barely guranteed 2nd year).

That way we retain flexibility while improving the team for the playoffs.

On Wednesday’s episode of ESPN’s debate-style show, First Take, there was a segment dedicated to the struggling 76ers, in which anchors Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless discussed the state of the franchise going forward after Tuesday’s embarrassing loss to Orlando that prompted head coach Doug Collins to question his team's effort.

At one point during the discussion, Bayless said that a source inside the Sixers organization told him that the most recent MRI on Andrew Bynum’s knees showed "degeneration," meaning in effect that they will never return to full strength. Bynum was also a no-show in the locker room prior to Tuesday's game, when he was scheduled to give an update on his condition.

Bayless continued by explaining that Andrew may show some flashes of the dominance he displayed last season, when he averaged 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds per game for the Lakers, but he will be unable to sustain it, as the knees will never be able to fully recover.

Keep in mind that this is not an official report, and the fact that Bayless, not known for his NBA connections, would be the only one with access to the information should make one somewhat skeptical.

However, if turns out to be true, this would be a huge revelation for the Sixers.

The difficult decision as to whether or not they should take a chance on signing Bynum to a lucrative, long-term deal would be defunct as re-signing him could mean several more years of knee issues and little (or no) production.

If this report is true, then you can bet Bynum and the Sixers will go their separate ways.

I mean... he hasn't played a lick this season, he's going to be a FA after a full year of recovery. He can't ask for a max contract b/c he hasn't touched the court. If we can get him for relatively cheap for a year, I'd do it. There's a low risk factor there. That way we still have enough cap space come the following year incase it doesn't pan out...

If the Lakers end up keeping Howard, I think people will look back on that trade in the same light as they look at the Gasol trade.

As long as we aren't there to catch him on the rebound.

As Chris Rock said (imitating recently-broken up girl talking to male "friend" who hangs around waiting for this particular moment):

"I'm so glad you're heeeeere......" (dissolves into long-delayed kiss)

Please, Morey: DO NOT BE THERE TO GREET BYNUM WHEN THE SIXERS DUMP HIM! PLEASE! DON'T! DO! IT!

    Andrew Bynum

    With knee soreness yet again...

That dude has some differnce making talent and I wanted the rockets to pursue him this offseason. But if he doesnt even step on the court this year, I may have to change my mind.

Thanks Philly. For making the West more stronger by facilitating a deal and ultimatley getting Dwight to LA and Igudola to Denver...and you guys ending up with absolutely nothing

Andrew Bynum is once again experiencing swelling in his knee after practicing last Friday, a source told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Uh oh. Bynum ditched the media on Tuesday, has been unable to do any basketball-related activities since last Friday and now it's being reported that his troublesome knee is starting to swell again. This is all on top of a report that he's dealing with a degenerative knee condition, and it's starting to look even worse than previously for Bynum. Although he's continuing to say he'll play this season, we're seriously doubting that Bynum will be cleared to play at any point in the near future. The Sixers traded Andre Iguodala, Moe Harkless and Nikola Vucevic to acquire Bynum and Jason Richardson in the offseason. Bynum will be an unrestricted free agent in search of a max contract, while Richardson is not expected to be ready to start next season on time following knee surgery. The Bynum experiment has been a downright disaster for the Sixers.

I don't get why people think the team is so desperate for a Center that we'd gamble giving a big contract to a guy with injury and maturity issues rather then just stick with what we have with Asik.

I like Lin but there is no doubt about offering a contract to Chris Paul as he is the best PG in the game today. I also get going after Josh Smith but Bynum or Howard are ridiculous gambles given their recent lack of production IMO.

Instead of giving full max to these guys i think what we should do is re-sign Delfino and then rest of the money we should go n get decent back up's in PG, SG, C who we know can give us bench scoring and Defense also. so we can give some breather to our starters.
