The funny thing is if he were in the United States, he'd be sued for discrimination. As for the crack on Danish pizza, all European pizza sucks. It is an American food. The Europeans don't know what they are doing with it.
Is that true? I know you can't discriminate based on race, religion and sex and such but does national origen count?
I know it's bad form to respond to my own post but you can't discriminate based on National Origen. However, what about accent?
Most of Europe would be speaking German or Russian right now if the United States wasn't such a bully. A little gratitude would be nice.....
can...open worms...everywhere! we've had this discussion so many times that i could write a 3 act play correctly attributing the opinions of different posters on this website to them.
Is the concept of this shop owner's statement much different than that of Toni Smith, the gal who turns her back on the flag? Why is this man's statement seen as ludicrous, while Toni's is being applauded by some? Beliefs......statements.....rights.......blurrrrrrrrr I need a beer. Just trying to throw a stick in the spokes.
Governmental entities are not allowed to discriminate. For private citizens it is an entirely different matter. And HOOP-T...I think I could find some quotes who applaud this guy's statement and see Toni's statement as ludicrous. Basically a question of your viewpoint, I guess. Anyway, I am back in Copenhagen now, but I am not going to eat Pizza...first of all these damn Danes wouldn't give me any anyway...and I just had one in Milano/Italy today...that's better anyhow!
I think it's stupid because how does he know all Germans or French are anti-war? Does he care if his fellow Danes are anti-war or not? In my mind, it's one thing to disagree with someone about this, it's another thing to take it to that level. IMO, Smith's protest has just been a personal decision that involves only herself. It's not like she asked the University to not allow "pro-war" (yes, I know there aren't any pro-war people) into the games. He's free to do what he wants though, I guess, as long as he's not breaking any Danish discrimination laws.
I'd heard the story about the North Carolina dummies who banned French and German wine from their stores last week before the Maverick game. During the Maverick game, I was upset that Cuban wasn't a dummy like that either.
