In Patterson's last 11 games as a Rocket, he averaged (per game):

    28.5 minutes, 14.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.55 TOs, 60% FG (including 64-100, 64%, from 2 point range, and 7-17, 41% from 3 point range). He was also 7 for 9 (78%) from the line. His TS% was 64.5%.

You don't get much more efficient than that.

Can't look at it simply as trading Patterson for Robinson. Its like when we made the Alston trade for Lowry. That wasn't simply swapping Rafer for Kyle. It made room in the rotation for Aaron Brooks.

Think of it as we traded Patterson's position in the rotation for Motiejunas getting those minutes instead. And then we traded Morris's position in the rotation for Robinson getting those minutes. Better?

The short-sightedness is absolutely laughable. Robinson played 8 minutes. Like seriously....8 freaking minutes and he's written off as a bust.

And you think that was sustainable?

I think this is a sarcasm thread by him.

He's not the one to overreact.

Those were 8 terrible minutes for the Rockets, though. Its going to be a while before Robinson helps you win games, I feel. Not out of the ordinary for rookies (even top 10 selections), either.

I agree. But that's my point. If 8 minutes is all somebody needs to see to label him worthless...they are laughably short-sighted.

Give the man some freaking time. Certainly more than 8 minutes...

We flipped PPat for Moti's minutes and cap flexibility- any production from Robinson and his rookie deal is gravy.

Should it not be? He wasn't doing anything amazing. Just taking easy shots created often by teammates drawing attention. A steady diet of open 12-15 foot J mixed in with a few dunks and layups per game and that's what you get for knowing where to be in the offense.

No, I don't think he was going to continue to shoot 60% from the field. It was a nice hot streak though.

We need rebounds, not 3 pointers.

We know rookie Robinson is a project.

We still have Donuts and Jones to step up.

I can never tell when you're being serious or not. But I'd really like to think a normally intelligent poster like yourself would understand why the trade was made and why teams all over the league are jealous of Morey for being able to pull this deal off.

This trade didn't cost us a championship. Time to move on.

The problem now is that there is no midrange game for this team. Everything is either 3 or layup. Patterson himself was not so talented, but what he provided in terms of offense was valuable because no one else on the team can do it.

    It is a reasonable long-term bet: pay $1 for a 50% chance at $2 and a 50% chance at $0.

But while it may not cost us a championship. It may well cost us a playoff berth this year.
