    14 rebounds means 14 possessions

3-14, assuming they were all 2 point free throws and assuming they didn't recover the rebound afterwords translates to 5 full possessions

also assuming most of those were in the 4th quarter

thats alot of turnovers in the 4th

I won't say it was his worst game ever.

But to say that Howard played well is just stupid. It was a poor performance, period. Obviously Howard is a great player, but just like alot of the "superstars" today, he can't be the main offensive scorer because of severe deficiencies in skill.

The NBA today is more about ball passing and fast-breaks than about duelling of superstars like in the early 00's. That's just due to a lack of talent, esp defensive forces down low. i.e The Heat would get destroyed by the Lakers and Spurs of yesterday. So really, Howard doesn't even need to develop his skill because today's NBA is just that weak that all you need is a good quarterback like LeBron and some good plays, with occasional "post-up". But the Lakers' expectations is of a traditional, dominant post presence like Shaq and Bynum. This is why he's struggling now.

On the Lakers, Howard should only focus on his strength, which is catching lobs, finishing pick and rolls, and most importantly play defense. He should NEVER post up, especially against girthy defenders.

So, he signs in Houston and rehabs his shoulder and back by just practing his free throws all summer.

    Two birds with one stone.

The thing that worries me is that if we get Howard were gonna have to deal with his FT percentage

I mean...from what I've read, apparently the Lakers were a very distant 3rd option behind Brooklyn and Dallas. They weren't a place he "didn't" want to go, but he wasn't really LOVING the idea of LA.

As a max player and the focal point of offense, you can not have that big a flaw in your game. Team will foul you and dare you to beat them at the free line. And it's not just the missed free throws, it's demoralizing your team.

If you are going to have that big of a flaw in your game at least be more dominant offensively and defensively. (Read: Shaquille O'Neal)

At least when Shaq got fouled, he would come back the next play and make you pay.

I think you're underestimating how bad hack a howard is at this point. Shaq didn't even shoot that bad lol.

    Shaq'a Career FT: 0.527
    0
    Howard's FT this season: 0.485

LOL! His FT is so bad (shot 60% in his rookie year) I think his shoulder's still bothering him a lot. I just have concerns how bad his healthy really is. I would stay the **** away. I mean, people said the same thing about STAT, look how low he's fallen off the map.

He did his job, rebounded played defense. I didn't realize Dwight was known for his FT efficiency.

Its everyone's job to make free throws. What he is known for is irrelevant. Now, if your talking about expectations, then 50-60% for him would be about par, not 21%.

Not an Amar'e fan, but he has a 21.99 PER this season. He's still a good player.

Not much of a difference compared to Asik's free throw percentage.

I've said it before, but if you're not shooting at least 60%, you should be forced to learn how to shoot underhand by your coach...it's apparently way easier for these big guys with big mits to control their shot.

Big difference. We ain't running plays to get Asik the ball in the low block so he can get hacked 14 times and shoot 20 free throws a game.

Now....IF Dwight wouldn't demand all those touches and would work his game like Asik does, moving around, catching and either quickly passing the ball or throwing it down......THEN his lack of free throw shooting ability could be masked by a good offensive system. But alas...........he wants to touch the ball all the time!

Exactly this. Dwight is whining and moaning about wanting the offense being run through him.

It's why he was being a baby in Orlando, he wanted to be the closer in 4th quarters....well guess what, when you can't shoot free throws for **** you're not a closer you're a liability.

Lakers have lost MANY games due to hack-a-howard, especially at the beginning of the season.

I love how everyone gets on Blake Griffin for being "offensively limited" yet even he looks like Olajuwon compared to Howard. The guy has ZERO post game, is stiff as a board and turns it over at a very high percentage in post up situations. Yet he wants more touches! LOL
