I know there is something I am just not seeing and maybe someone will tell me what it is.

Tonight Steve went 4-16, thats no problem we know he just had a off game. Mobley goes 3-12 againest Seattle, no problem we know he just had a off game. I don't remember that Francis was run down in 90% of the post here when he was a rookie that was having more turnovers then I got fingers every game. Mobley didn't have everyone wanting to trade him or cut his ass loose when he was a rookie.

Why is it that Collier needs to be gone, he has been called amost ever name that he could be except a rookie that is trying to get better. Why do we have so much patience with some and none with others?

I like Collier and think he will make us a good role player for years to come, but I realize that makes me in the minority here.

Every team needs role players and thats what Collier will become.

It's crazy to trash a guy after seeing only limited minutes in a few preseason games.

It seems like most people around here would be happy to see him fail.

The guys wearing a Rocket uni so I'll be in his corner at least until he gives me a reason not to be but as of know he has done nothing to deserve all the hatin going on here.

My feelings exactly Daro. I am a Rocket fan first and foremost. He's got to do a lot more than just be a rookie learning the game before I will bad mouth him as bad as some people.

EJ, I am in full agreement with you. It seems like The Cat, myself and you are among the few that believe in Collier's game. I got a chance to attend the game tonight and watched Collier closely for the time he was in. For about 75% of the time, he did look very awkward but that was mostly a timing and inexperience issue. I remember one play where Steve and him had a miscommunication on whether or not he was supposed to set a screen or clear out and let Steve isolate. After the play, I saw Steve explaining to him how to handle it. In time, Collier will start to flow into the Rockets offense and appear natural but that just does not happen overnight.

In the 4th quarter, Collier really showed improved intensity on the boards. He was boxing guys out and getting boards. This is more the type of Collier that I saw at Georgia Tech. He would use his wide frame to get position under the glass and pile up the rebounds. Just give him time, he can reach that level in the NBA.

The single most annoying aspect of tonight's game was the lack of boxing out allowing the Spurs to get all over the offensive glass. I dont really care how pretty some offensive sets look and such, I am big on fundamentals and giving up 19 offensive boards is just not going to cut it. I just cannot bear watching Derrick Dial follow up on the offensive glass for dunks while Kenny Thomas gapes at him like a deer caught in the headlights. The simple fact of the matter is that the Rockets need to improve in the fundamental basketball areas of rebounding and defense if they are going to be a player this season. Preseason or not, giving up 19 offensive rebounds is just sickening.

I've watched the rockets for 11 years, and if Collier becomes a role player this year for the Rockets then the Rockets are in deep doo-doo.

Sorry to be the nay sayer. I thought Drew was a terrible pick by the Rockets. I think the same of Collier. WE WENT TO THE FREAKING LOTTERY AND GOT JASON COLLIER. That makes me sick.

Like the rest of you I will try and support Collier. But it makes me sick that we drafted this guy. In the first round no less.

    Titan's fanatic!!!!

It was the first time the Titans sent an offense to the line of scrimmage with Eddie George in the backfield behind McNair to go with Wycheck at tight end and Carl Pickens, Kevin Dyson and Yancey Thigpen at wide receiver.

So many choices, with a full season still ahead.

"I think that might be scary for a defense," Dyson said.

Rookie or not I still don't like some of the things I see him do, he needs to really work on his D.......

Collier looks like a deer caught in the headlights. Interestingly K. Thomas had that same look for his first few months with the Rockets. Not saying Collier will turnout like Kenny did but it seems to take some guys longer to adjust to the NBA. For right now Collier is no help to the team at all. Hopefully he will find his confidence and be able to make some contributions this year.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned the one thing that Collier has done this preseasonn BETTER than any other Rocket, rookie or vet: Drawing the charge/offensive foul.

What's the difference between that and a defensive stop? They're just as good. Collier has done it very well. He has also showed he can shoot from the outside. I've seen someone say "well you're supposed to make them when you're open". That's not the case. When will Shaq ever shoot a jumper from the free throw line when he's open assuming he has time to do anything else. Collier HAS to be guarded out there. He's also always been ready for the pass off that roll, and creates a target for the ball handler. I also recall one attempted offensive tip ins that just fell out of his.

For losing the game, sure Collier missed 2 clutch free throws. Is it fair for a rookie to be in that situation? If Carlos doesn't get T'd, then we don't have to foul San Antonio. Assuming they make a shot/free throws we'd only need a 2, not a 3.

The offensive rebounding was awful, but we are a team right now minus Hakeem, Mo Taylor, and Shandon. Hakeem's always been a good rebounder, Mo was showing improvement, and Shandon is a good rebounder himself, AND could've cut off the pesky Dial.

    Shandon is underrated.

The problem is .. no one wanted Collier
Drafted [Honestly I had no Idea who he was]

So When you are the #14 [?] draft pick
somethings are expected. Folx have heeped
a lot of [unfair] expectations on him.

He has a lot to over come to get respect.

I have no expectation of him. I'm looking
    more a Langhi.
I *DO* wanna see this firepower.
