I used to be annoyed about it. Then I moved to California where people are smarter about that thing. /sniff But seriously though, it's getting better at places. White people are still dumb though /racist
To be honest, I don't mind it. I just assume that they want to be sure what exactly I am (Taiwanese), so that they don't say something inappropriate. What I DO mind is the people that just assume I'm Chinese, or Korean, or whatever.
Give it another fifty or so years before White America realizes that Asians can, gasp, be American too. If you're from Taiwan, then you are Chinese.
Not really, I still see ppl walk around and say that their Scottish, or Quebecois, or... Palestinian? Gotta respect that, although tbh I find the whole concept of nationalism to be quite stupid.
Not necessarily Unless you're hakka, you're likely Han Chinese. People can be ignorant and still be right sometimes...
bro if you still lived in Bangladesh then you probably wouldn't even have enough money to get on the internet or wear shoes for that matter, so your frustration seems a little silly misplaced, don't you think? Per capita income is $641 per year there.
I don't really care for the most part. Someone, who I've known for about 5 years, asked me if I spoke Mandarin when he clearly knows I'm Korean. That annoyed me a little bit but he wasn't trying to be a racist, just a little ignorant.
the most unnecessarily condescending poster on this board. Seriously, you post always post like someone let a roach up your ass. Not sure why Clutch tolerates you.
The name "asian" itself is a little out of whack. The east Asians and the south Asians and mid easterners are totally different species. Asia is just a geographical name, in a way.
Don't sweat that small stuff. Worry about all the negative media representation Asian men get. Worry about minstrel acts like Ken Jeong. Worry about why they replace Asian actors with white ones. Worry about the racist jokes and stereotypes. Worry about why they always use Asians as a comedic punchline. Worry about why Asians rarely make it to the top. Most of all, worry about how all this is making Asians hate themselves.
