Saphan, I think you're right about fear in America since 9/11. But, I also know that Europe has already been living at that same level for years. I've seen the reactions in France to the Parisian subway bombings and to crime as well. What worries me is that Americans are acting increasingly like the French in protecting themselves from danger.

    Btw, welcome and ignore bigtexx.

In my opinion it answered more. I was shocked when I saw at the beginning of the documentary, that in one bank if you open a new account they would give you a shotgun. In a bank!

You say that you have no fear. But why then you own several guns? Maybe you like them, collect them. But how come you have that many rounds... People buy guns for their protection, right? But from whom do these guns protect you from? What is that big treat? Also that remark about people control. I thought you were fighting that.

Yes, you are probably right, at least it didn't directly. But IMO as I said already before the nation is fed by fear on purpose because it’s the easiest way to control people. Joseph Best had a blackout and went shooting, but lately lots of people in America go crazy…

    No, Slovenia.

Sweet, somebody who knows about Boki. Hopefully you'll post regularly, Saphan.

I haven't seen BFC, but I'm downloading it as I type. I wouldn't mind seeing all guns band, but that won't happen and it's unfair to law abiding gun owners. Somebody needs to put up some statistics though. I want to see stuff like what percent of gun violence is commited by friends/family compared to strangers. Legally owned vs illigally owned. All that good stuff.

Regarding stats. I don't remember exactly but it must be something like this ( form BFC )
    Deaths by fireweapon per year:
    -Germany….150
    - France…….175
    - UK………...200
    -Canada……..80
    .
    .
    .
    USA………..12.000

    Makes you think.

I already knew those numbers, I was interested in what's happening in America. There are some people in the BBS who are pretty awesome at hunting down statistics like these.

Saphon, Micheal Moore (the director of BFC) is famous for, shall we say, stretching the truth to make his point. The scene you are referring to is one such occasion. From a review of the movie:

"Perhaps the most gripping scene in the movie is one where Moore simply turns up at a bank, North Country Bank & Trust in Traverse City, Michigan, opens a bank account and gets a gun for his trouble. As he walks away, Moore chortles to the camera: "Here's my first question: do you think it's a little dangerous handing out guns at a bank?" It would be if true. But in fact the bank in question only gives you a gun if you open long-term CDs, and then you have to go to a gun store to get the gun after a background check. The scene, according to Lyons, was staged."

Second arrest in snowball fight shooting

Tuesday, February 25, 2003 Posted: 8:18 PM EST (0118 GMT)

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (AP) -- The wife of a man who allegedly opened fire on children after his daughter was hit with a snowball has been charged in the drive-by shooting that left a 10-year-old girl in critical condition.

Cynthia Powell, 36, was charged late Monday with attempted murder, aggravated assault and related charges in the attack on Ebony Smith, who was shot in the head as she and other children stood on a corner near her home.

Authorities say Powell was driving the car as her husband, Joseph Best, leaned out the window and opened fire. Best is charged with attempted murder.

Police said Best, 32, fired at least five shots at the children Sunday to avenge his daughter, who was hit in the face with a snowball as she passed children engaged in a snowball fight. It was unclear whether the girl struck with the snowball also was Powell's daughter, police said.

The snowball fight led to an altercation police broke up between Best and a neighborhood girl's mother, police Capt. Charles Bloom said Tuesday. Best returned to the scene several hours later and fired the shots, Bloom said.

Police said Ebony was not one of the children involved in the snowball fight.

It was unclear whether Best or Powell had attorneys.

Saphan, I enjoy shooting sports, and if necessary household protection...I own 9 guns so far...I intend to buy even more. I enjoy target shooting especially, and at times, I go hunting. I don't have an irrational fear as I am usually unarmed in traveling, at work, etc. ...You don't see me shaking and foaming at the mouth or something.

When you enjoy the gun and shooting hobby, you want to learn the history of a certain caliber, the performance, the characteristics, you want to know why the 7.62 X 39 is weaker than a 7.62 X 51, why a .300 savage is less powerful than a .300 winchester magnum...You learn a 230 grain .45 bullet generally travels at 845 feet per second, while a 115 grain 9mm bullet travels at 1250 feet per second, and so on and so forth...And that does'nt even include the characteristics and history of a given firearm...

    This crazy stuff facinates me...

But I know safety comes first...It is a great responsibility which I have examined and accepted.

As far as rounds, I like to find deals and stock up...When I go to Carter's country, I can waste 300 to 500 bullets at the shooting range at one time...especially if I use my Colt AR-15 .223 or Springfield M1A in .308

A majority of my bullets is in .22long rifle which is generally sold in "bricks" of 850 or so...If you do a lot of shooting to hone your skills, you must have a lot of money or consider .22lr shooting...This is a beginning rifle and you can shoot all day long if you like since a round costs only 2 cents here in the U. S.

If you ever want to come to Houston, I'll take you shooting with me and we can enjoy my famous bar-b-que squirrel!

Hey, I'd like to become a responsible gun owner someday, for shooting at targets only and not for protecting my home of course. For future referance, where would I have to go to get a Walter P99. It's my understanding that they are sold out around the world thanks to James Bond.

When I was in Las Vegas a couple of years ago, you could go shoot a fully automatic weapon...it was unreal.

The trouble with some kinds of warfare (and be certain the Tyrant knew this, because it is implicit in his lesson) is that they destroy all moral decency in susceptible types. Warfare of these kinds will dump the destroyed survivors back into an innocent population that is incapable of even imagining what such returned soldiers might do.
