If Dan Rather was sitting next to Sadam, why didn't he just do the deed and snap his neck right there?

    Tom Brokaw would have.

The unified UN is all the countries that signed 1441. The problem is, some countries do not want to follow through with what the resolution clearly states.

If I were the Bush Administration, I would tentatively agree to the debate. However, our agreement would be made with the understanding that no actual debate will take place until Iraq issues a statement that intelligently answers a set of questions regarding the weapons (or missing weapons). In other words, if the majority of the statement involves words such as "Hollywood" or "American imperialism," and fails to provide any answer that is worth debating (i.e. whether or not the missiles can be considered weapons of mass destruction), then Bush has no reason to debate.

If, however, the Iraqis have a rare moment of honesty and answer the questions (maybe someone here could give some examples - my understanding is limited at best) sincerely, then a debate might not be a bad idea. Of course, it's still likely that the debate will devolve into name-calling and sound bites.

The worst thing about this whole situation is that nobody seems to be listening to one another. Everyone just shouts their position and expects it to be unconditionally accepted. When two sides disagree, the response always seems to be "you're wrong" or "you're lying." Nobody seems to state their actual reasons for disagreement - they just say they disaggree. I wish there was more real debate about the situation in Iraq, because I feel that a solution would be much easier to come by.

Do the debate. Saddam can't be anymore of a stiff than Al Gore.

Besides, can you imagine an illiterate puppet and a maniacal dictator trying to debate each other? It would be a hell of alot more entertaining than some of the "reality" shows that have been on recently!

What the hell is the point of a debate? Iraq doesn't have elections, Saddam is not accountable to his people. This is beyond stupid.

While you can be sure that this debate will never happen in rea life you can bet that Conin O"Brian will do a parody sketch on it. I can't wait.

Bush was undefeated against Al Gore in the debates. 3-0 I think it was.

Oh, but that's the point. Two illegitimate leaders... one sporting a flavor-savor, I think we have the makings of a hit tv show.

I hate to say I told yopu so, but this is exactly what I said he would do on Monday.

His game is too obvious, and its getting tired. He waited unril the threat of action to let the inspectors in, and he keeps pushing everything to the deadline for 2 reasons.

    1) He does not want to appear weak to his own contry by complying immediately with all that is asked of him

    2) He wants to make it look to the world of protesters like he is giving ground thus building additional anti action support. Its old, its tired, and its time to go!

I'm sorry, but is the last one (the blue one) farting flame and crying at the same time? ... I guess I'd cry too.
