The good sign tonight with Lin is he hit 3 spot-up 3-pointers without hesitation, and another spot-up mid-range jumpshot off the Harden inbounds pass curling around a screen to get free. That last one we've hardly seen ... and it shows the team has more confidence with Lin taking that shot!

Lin has been taking those shots all season. He has just been missing more often than making. But despite that McHale & the team has stuck with him. Just a little perspective.

The game was nuts. The Rockets jumped out of the gate early hitting their 3s and then fell off throughout the rest of the game. The comeback at the end was epic. It was a clearout for Harden almost every time down and he delivered. The crowd was nuts!! Glad I was there to see the game. Afterward the Rowdies had the hallway going nuts! It's good to see true fans enjoying their team wins. I got to snap their pics after the game which was cool. Especially cause I got to meet RocketFan at the VIP tent event over the weekend as well. Great win for the Rockets

Hahaha. He could have given that $2000 to his Foundation. He was the only one that jumped on the court to express his emotion at that time. He lost his coolness. :grin:

considering how he was getting hammered at times last night without getting any calls, and westbrook getting calls just by lin breathing on him, i'd say he was less than pleased with the officials last night.

and watching it on tv... not sure about you guys but i thought the officiating was horrible, especially some of the fouls calls for westbrook and durant.

We need a guy to step up and give a voice for the Rockets every once in a while or else the refs and other teams will get away with a lot of things. Like how Morris stepped up and got ejected against GSW.

Very good read on the Robinson deal.

In the first domino to fall during trade deadline week, the Rockets acquired rookie power forward Thomas Robinson, the 5th overall pick of the 2012 draft. Doing so meant giving up Patrick Patterson, Cole Aldrich, Toney Douglas and, in a separate deal with the Suns, Marcus Morris, while also acquiring Francisco Garcia and Tyler Honeycutt. Robinson was up and down in hist brief stint with the Kings, yet it’s hard to see why Sacramento would give up on such a talent so ear…oh, never mind, it’s Sacramento, where logic goes to die. Now that Robinson is with a more stable organization and a team that actually values ball movement,will he be able to be a positive force on the floor?

Percentage wise, the Rockets top-three play types are spot up, (24.5%) transition (17.2%) and the pick and roll (17.8% when P&R ball handler and roll man play types are combined). Further they are wildly successful in the pick and roll, as they score .88 points per play in Ball Handler plays (good for first overall) and 1.04 ppp in Roll Man plays (8th overall). They also score 1.17 ppp in transition, which ranks 6th in the league.

They don’t run many post up plays, which makes sense as none of the players in their frontcourt rotation are post-up threats, reflected in their .777 ppp in these situations and 24th overall league rank.

On defense, the Rockets are a mixed bag. They’re proficient in Pick and Roll ball handler play types, ranking 12th overall by surrendering .78 points per play. They also rank 12th in defending offensive rebounding play types (put backs and such), giving up only 1.06 ppp (this could be also be called the Omer Asik effect). That’s the good side of Houston’s defense. The bad can more aptly be described as ugly. Opponents score .89 ppp against Houston in post-up plays, which ranks the Rockets 28th overall in the league. And, while transition offense is a great strength of Houston’s, their transition defense is leaks more than a source at the trade deadline, as they give up 1.22 ppp in transition, landing them 28th in the league in this category. (By the way, the odd symmetry of the defensive and offensive categories is a complete, but cool, coincidence).

There are two areas in which Robinson should make an immediate impact in the Rockets offense: transition, and on the offensive boards. Synergy shows Robinson to be an asset on the break, as transition situations account for 16.9% of his offense, scoring 1.03 points per play on 60% shooting. 19.2% of Robinson’s offense comes from offensive rebounding situations, in which he scores .73 ppp, though at a less-than-ideal 37.3% clip.

Unfortunately, where Robinson struggles the most offensively is Houston’s aforementioned bread and butter, the pick and roll. In situations in which Robinson is the roll man, he only scores .37 points per play on 27.3% shooting. The most troubling number about Robinson in these situations is his inability to take care of the ball, turning the ball over a whopping 36.8 percent of the time. If Robinson wants to become a weapon for the Rockets and prove to McHale he is worthy of playing time, he must improve in the pick and roll.

As we’ve seen from rookies such as Moe Harkless and Andrew Nicholson, the quickest way for a first-year player to gain sustained minutes is to make an impact in effort areas such as defense or rebounding. Robinson’s rebounding numbers – 10.6 rebounds per 36 and a 16.5 rebounding percentage, landing him just outside the top-20 of the league, according to Basketball-Reference – are promising. Defensively, however, Synergy does not paint a pretty portrait of Robinson, especially in the context of Houston’s needs. As the defender of the roll man in pick and roll situations, Robinson surrenders .85 ppp, and allows his opponents to shoot 44.4%. In post-up defense, Robinson’s opponents shoot 56% against the chiseled rookie forward, scoring one point per play. Further, opponents score against Robinson in these situations 51.2% of the time, worse than Houston’s 45%. In a conference boasting frontcourt tandems of Gasol-Randolph, Bogut-Lee and Duncan-Splitter, to name a few, one can see where Robinson’s defensive issues, if he doesn’t improve upon them, will hurt the Rockets.

By no means does this indicate that Robinson will fail in Houston, as many of his numbers, both offensively and defensively, come with the small sample size caveat. Nor do they mean that these are the only facets of his game which need work. The loss of Patterson also means a more compact half court offense for Houston, as no remaining Houston power forward, save for Parsons at the 4, has the ability to stretch the floor. What these statistics do tell us, however, is the areas in which Robinson needs to improve if he is to become an immediate asset for the Rockets.

I'm sure he felt bad about this afterwards. His post-game video mentions how emotional he was about losing all his compadres right before the game - that emotion boiled over into this technical. Good experience for him to learn to manage his emotions, which can help during playoff situations.

Yea, wtf was that? Felt like the officiating was bs the entire game. Even Bill Worrell started saying it too. At the same time, Harden got some super star calls too. Oh, the perks of being a superstar; the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer.

Replay showed that the ball actually did hit the rim on the play that caused Lin to jump out of his seat on the bench and get the technical- so the refs blew the call and Jeremy did have a legitimate beef.
