The Rockets, flush with assets, are involved at "high level" in Josh Smith talks, league source says.
But Houston has leverage: cap room this summer to land Smith as a free agent. Limits the assets they are willing to part with now.

I'm not sold on Smith as a free agent giving up nothing, if he is going to demand a max contract. Much less for either Parsons or Asik, and certainly not for both.

lol their GM must have been smoking something. Parsons is most likely not on the trading block, and I assume Morey would only give up Asik for Howard

I have a bad feeling now though that any trade that may happen is going to involve Chandler Parsons....

They will want atleast one of those guys no doubt.

I had assumed that the reason we went after T-Rob was so we could make Jones and/or Motie expendable - i.e. we had a trade set up with the Hawks already. Looks like I was way off!

You at least have to credit Ferry for having the guts to bring this proposal to the table.

Josh Smith is NOT worth EITHER Asik as a player, or Parsons as the player with the best contract in the league

    A starting five of:
    Lin
    Harden
    Parsons
    Robinson
    Howard

With the possible bench players of Delfino, TJones, DMo and Asik.

That IS a superteam. And IMO way better than

    Lin
    Harden
    ?
    Smith
    Howard

with Parsons and Asik possibly gone

Trading away Parsons would increase our summer cap space (if we were going to sign Smith anyways) by $888k......oh wait, that's not a lot

Misdirect. Morey doesn't do hardly anything that hits the media beforehand. I'm guessing we are after Love.

Obviously Parsons is a no go. The Rockets facebook page just released a competition to meet Chandler, 13 minutes ago.

more and more i'm starting to realize there's very little to gain from giving up good assets for Josh Smith on an expiring contract. He's played in Atlanta his whole life. This is the first time he's ever had control over where he plays. He's gonna test the market. Why trade assets for him when we'll have a good shot to sign him outright without giving up anything?

As always, this just confirms we are not interested in Smith right now.

Adrian Wojnarowski: Remember, Houston has the space to sign Smith as a free agent this summer. They're not going to overpay to trade for him now. Twitter @WojYahooNBA
