This is the dumbest story ever ... First of all, does anyone actually think most FB players do the work for classes they go to anyway?

Second of all, online courses is not something new for reputable institutions. I would venture that virtually every top university has quite an offering of online courses. Hell, I know you can get a Masters degree in Engineering from USC entirely online.

Some of you are probably still b****ing that they let you use computers in school now and that everyone should still be using typewriters.

While I don't think this is a big deal, few things:

    1) Aggies would in complete outrage if this was the same situation with a star at a rival school.
    2) Manziel is probably gone after this year. He's pretty much just doing the bare minimum to stay eligible..I doubt he cares about his degree and it just takes one NFL GM to fall in love with his talent, which will surely happen. Smart move on his part cause he doesn't have much to gain after this year, especially if A&M puts together another strong season.
    3) I'm sure there are plenty of co-eds more than willing to take his classes for him online, although it will never really be proven so this is a moot point.
    4) Only thing that I see is a semi issue (not from a NCAA standpoint) is going on his grand tour everywhere while only being on campus once a month. Going to mardi gras, dallas, superbowl weekend, all star weekend, etc..Doesn't really fit the image of "college athlete" who is balancing football and school that the NCAA or A&M wants to portray. Not to mention I doubt he is just crashing at friends places everywhere like most college kids. Hotel and travel bills rack up, and I doubt he's staying in motel 6s. I know someones going to be like "his parents are wealthy." I believe they are wealthy but not oil tycoon $10M+ wealthy. And even if they are, it doesn't really give off a good image if their son is spending 5-6 figures traveling and partying everywhere while pictures of him with alcohol are out there while he's underage.

No they wouldn't, nobody gives a **** period. Did Aggies care when Miami players all cheated on an online course and got caught? No.

It's pretty clear that Manziel is bouncing after one season.

A rival school. If someone at UT won the heisman and then proceeded to take all online classes while being seen partying everywhere, they would definitely give a **** and accuse him of cheating, violating ncaa rules, etc.

He has to play another year to be eligible for the draft.

Okay, y'all cry about stuff then, I'm not worried about it. The fact that all of these shenanigans happen right in the public's eye clearly demonstrates they are within the NCAA's guidelines. Nobody cares man, ESPN and the radio hacks manufacture a story out of nothing to get y'alls panties in a wad to get web hits and calls. Suckers.

I think so, sometimes. It's much to do about nothing. Most people who go back to school or students who do have full-time jobs, often take online classes.

I actually think its a good idea for athletes to take classes online. Less distractions in a classroom or on campus; being more or less full-time workers (prove to me that college football players don't spend at least less than 30-40 hours a week doing something pertaining to football with practices; workouts; film sessions; and charity events); need flexible schedule moreso than most (they won't be able to attend classes on given weeks, if they have to travel across country).

    Let's be reasonable here.

He can leave for the NFL after this coming season. You have to be 3 years removed from high school and Johny M. red shirted his first year at A&M. I have no idea if he will or not but he can if he wants.

Ziggy: Were you being serious when you said people don't learn anything in undergrad, they just pay for a degree and you can learn the same thing by reading books instead of hearing someone's bias opinion. If so, what degree did you graduate with?

I'm tired of people asking me if I'm serious or not, y'all sound like my ex-girlfriend. It's an enigma.

Also, my degree doesn't matter since I do online marketing and they don't teach that at the farm school. Maybe I'll go teach those jabronis how to market something other than corn in the Greensheet someday.

Worrying about where a student takes classes is ****ing r****ded. You either A. pay the school crazy money to go there or B. let the school exploit your talents to go there for free, in either scenario you should be making school work for you. Not vice versa.

The experience of learning from people at the top of their respective fields is extremely valuable. You can never test and push yourself to the point of failure as a good university can. I don't know what it is like at other schools but at UT and I'm sure A&M and Rice it's hard. You spend endless amounts of time being under pressure to learn and execute your learning. I don't know where you went and how you managed to waste all your money.

It's r****ded how you can dismiss the value in a good education. Did you attend a university? How long did you attend? Did you graduate? If the answer to all 3 of those is no than you literally don't know what you are talking about.

Sorry for the confusion but that's what I meant. Another year of football. Meaning this year.

Undergrad at TAMU, graduated in 4.5yrs. You sound like someone that hasn't been to grad school if you think passing history in undergrad is some amazing accomplishment. TAMU requires you to take 2hrs of frigg'n PE, doctor.

Yes. Passing history was what I meant as the pinnacle of academic achievement. Well rounded reasoning as to the message of my post.

Not hijacking a thread on the A&M qb. Done.

What about the individuals that get scholarships based on their scholastic efforts?

I just think its wrong to devalue the work that thousands of students are currently doing.
