I remembered from draft day that he had custody of his little sister and was a great kid, but damn. That's a touching read. Thanks for posting.

I'm in favour of the trade not because of the new guys from Sac, but because Smith, Dmo, Anderson & maybe Jones may finally get some consistent pt.

Perhaps this is Morey's way of forcing McHale's hand to play Smith & Dmo over Cole & Morris. It's a pity Patterson is also involved in this trade because he has played really well after the loosing streak & unlike Morris, he doesn't make silly mistakes & commit dumb fouls all the times. Cole is just a liability on defense & zero on offence.

I'm surprise that Morey is willing to take Francisco Garcia's contract (6.1M for this season & 6.4M next season). His numbers has regressed significantly since 2008.

I don't really like this trade honestly. Obviously we have so many PFs we need to trade one or they'll waste, but I don't think TRob is even better than PPat. PPat's shooting was elite and he played solid defense. Rebounding isn't just about how many you grab, PPats rebounding may have been below average but it wasn't horrendous considering he wasn't supposed to rebound much in our system: he stays at the 3point line on offense and is supposed to run back in transition on defense while Asik rebounds. We are 3rd in defensive rebounding so its not like TRob is going to plug a hole for us there. As far as upside goes I'll admit TRob wins the battle but he is almost 22 and I'm not sure he will get that much better TBH.

Haven't read the whole thread. But I'll kind of wait and see what Morey's next move is.

For those who say he's athletic and will fit right in, I disagree. What we need is not an athletic PF who can't shoot. We need a stretch 4 to open up the paint for Harden and Lin. Unless this dude can play great defense, I don't see how he meets our needs better than Patterson and Morris.

That said, I agree that he is a better trade asset than all the players we have given up in this move. So let's see what Morey is going to do.

There will always be the nay sayers for every move. They were out in full force after the Harden trade and the Asik signing. Why are they so quiet now?

I LOVE THE MOVE!!!!....Rockets didnt have a POWER forward with PPat shooting those damn threes. Hopefully he can come in a contribute since he is surrounded by a team with a winning attitude. I like his game a bruiser down low with an improving back to the basket game. AND he is YOUNG!!!...he fits perfect with this young group the Rockets are assembling together...now let them grow!!!

I think the guy is a perfect fit. If he can pick and roll then he can and will make up for clogging the lane sometimes. Because it will make the PNR that much harder to defend when it is with Lin/Harden and Robinson.

He's not even really a post up guy so he's not clogging the paint that much. Someone earlier said that he could be like Blake Griffin.

That's a lofty expectation but if you look at their skillsets coming into the NBA it's really not all that different. Both were athletic all hustle guys with not much skill beyond that. Blake worked some on his jumper and offense and has improved but he's better in his role being that super athletic guy that teams have to worry about constantly.

We have guys in Lin and Harden that can create his offense for him. Not only that, they have someone they can finally send oops to.

Also I feel like we won't hear Clyde say "He needs to just dunk that!" any more.

    Obviously:
    1. Kenneth Faried (pick #22)
    2. Kawhi Leonard (pick #15)

    Not so obvious:
    3. Nikola Vucevic (pick #16)
    4. Jimmy Butler (pick #30)
    5. Isaiah Thomas (pick #60)

Nikola Vecevic was such a good pick up for Orlando. Everyone wrote him off after the Dwight trade, and said Orlando should have gotten Bynum or Iggy. Iggy is Iggy in Denver, but the 76ers aren't even sure he'll ever play for him.

But Orlando made way with 2 very good players in Afflalo and Vecevic. It's like the Memphis Gasol trade. The GM gets burned by fans, media, the league for making what appears like an idiotic trade, but then a couple years down the road the move goes from awful to good.

This is Morey's way of forcing McHale to play some of the rooks.

Haha Morey does it again, guess we were the first to do a trade close to the deadline. Can you imagine how this must feel to Daryl after trying so hard to get that 5th pick last draft :) Loving the fact he got rid of two PFs and let's not forget Toney & Aldrich. Douglas was nice for a while but it was time to move on. Aldrich was just a dump and we dumped him so all is well. Robinson was in a bad environment, excited to see what he can do. What made this even better is the fact we beat OKC behind a career high from Harden
