A swap of two of our favorite past Rockets would have been a huge improvement for LA.

With Cassell in the line-up there would be no need Horry's last second 3pt shot heriocs.

    What was phil thinking?!

I kinda of wish we could get Sam back to Houston, for the right price of course.

Don't get it. I remember something about the Rox wanting Miner but I don't remember any trade rumors with Horry and Cassell. And even if there were, I still don't get it

People wanted Minor instead of Horry. People even booed when we made the selection. Now Horry is going for six rings on his hands.

I think it was that we could have drafted Harold Miner in the 91 draft, or was it the 92 draft? the year bob horry was in the draft.

Everybody was pissed we didn't get Harold Miner.

What's he ever done in the league?

    He was labeled Baby Jordan.

    He won the SlamDunk Contest.

    And...

    yeah, that is about it.

    1) Cassell knows diddely about the triangle.

    2) Horry is a team option next summer and Cassell's contract runs until 2005-2006. Horry's contract is much more flexible.

I still don't get it. Sam Cassell is better than Horry and Miner both. Though I can understand not doing the trade: you don't want to rock the boat of a multiple-championship team.

Sammy is still one of my favs. I doubt he would be a good Rock, tho.

Payton will resign with the Bucks and Sam will be traded somewhere.

Sam is better offensive player in general, but Horry is a key part of the Lakers defense. I think Phil was right. What does Sam offer handling the ball that they don't have in Bryant offensively, and Fisher is at least equal at playing defense and waiting for the open shot to knock down as Sam is. Now if Phil was offered Payton for Horry + I think the outcome may have been different.

Sammy doesn't fit with Phil's type of PGs.

He is not a good outside shooter, and plays ZERO defense. Moreover, Shaq and Kobe would beat the living $hit out of him if he didn't pass the ball, which he is very prone to doing.

Cassell would also cry about his lack of shots, as the 3rd banana. If he cried about his shots when he was with Big Dog and Allen, think about if he was behind Kobe and Shaq.

Cassell really is the last type of PG Phil would want. The Lakers chemistry is somewaht shaky right now. Cassell would blow it up.

No offense KR8, but I find a lot of your posts just a little "homeristic"(for the Lakers). But this post is actually very good.

That said, I was one of the people who thought Sam for Horry would be good for the Lakers, but Horry from what I understand only would want to be traded to Houston and you are right about Sam in the Laker's mix does have the potential to blow up in our faces.

i have a feeling that shaq's opinion weighed heavily into this. i heard his say in an interview about the potential of the lakers making a trade: "Not if one of my dogs that have been around for the past few years has to go....if it's a newcomer though, i'm all for it." or something like that.

Oh, and Derick Fisher plays defense?

Just go to the Lakers' board to hear nearly every poster complain about Fisher's D.

The problem here would be during the playoffs, who would cover Webber, Duncan, Dirk, and KG. Samake Walker can't do it for more than 10 minutes without fouling out. The WC power fowards would eat the Lakers lunch if Horry was gone. Horry is one of the best role players of all time and he is money in the playoffs.
