Last season everyone loved Francis but now that Yao is on the team and a lot of bandwagon fans have joined, it seems as though Francis has lost his fan base. Everyone wants him or Mobley to be traded now for Yao's sake but the truth is, Yao, at his prime, will not be as good as Francis, at his prime. Sure Yao is a good player but the best he will ever do is average 18 pts, 12 rebs, and 4 blocks. No doubt that is very good but it doesnt compare to what Francis can do: 25 pts, 7 rebs, 7 dimes. I think the biggest reason people are favoring Yao over Francis is because a lot of the people on this board weren't Rockets fans before Yao came along aka BANDWAGON FANS. I'm not trying to trash Yao, I actually think he is a great player and I really like his attitude, but I think Francis will be a better player and a lot of fans need to get off his case.

i think most of people didn't really mean that.
SF is quite good in the rockets.
maybe he just need time to fit in with the new player, and the new situation.:p

Why are we posting every thread for Yao? That's what I want to know.

If my parody thread about Yao's skin pores was removed (not even locked), then at least a half dozen of these other Yao threads should be removed.

I don't like the negativity on this board but Yao is already pretty close to a 18 and 12 board kind of guy. Just look at his stats in the last 20 games or so. Yao in his prime will be the best center in the league, where Francis at this rate will never be the best point guard in the league. Also with the exeption of Jordan, big men bring championships.

And how do you know this exactly?

    See above

By the way, I doubt the best he'll ever do is 18, 12, and 4.

Ad if that is the best he'll ever do, we're all in big trouble because Steve Francis is still a long way from being an elite player and Mobley is in his prime now.

You're a total idiot if you think guards win in the West.

Disagree with Yao at his prime will be worse than Francis at his prime. It's too early to tell at this point but Yao looks real real good right now and his futures gonna be bright. But I do agree with this board being invaded by Yao fans, sigh, I wanted the Rox to be more well know and popular but this i was not what I had in mind :(

I don't know if your statements are biased. Where did you get 25,7,7 from Steve? He's been played in NBA for 4 years and his career high is 22.6ppg, 6.6apg,5.3 rpg (not in the same season).
On the other hand, Yao is 13.5 ppg, 8.3rpg, 1.7apg,1.9 bpg in 28.6 minutes in his rookie year.

This year Steve plays 41.3 minutes. If Yao somewhat gains stamina and plays same minutes, that's 19.5 ppg, 12 rpg,2.5 apg,2.7bpg without any other improvement. And you know he'd be improving and should get more touches. How did you get the conclution that his best would be 18 and 12?

People seem to be blinded by Yao's early success. He need a high scoring backcourt player to compliment him, whether anybody wants to admit it or not...

In 2 years when Shaq is way past his prime and Yao doesn't live up to your expectations, who will win the west?

Yao will be much better than Francis in his prime. He not only has the height advantage and great footwork, he also has a great basketball mind!

West is always bigman West. You still have Duncan,
Webber, KG, Dirk, ..., and Amare in the future.

Am I missing something? Aren't Yao and Francis on the same team?

Popularity is not 100% related to performance in court. A few reasons for Yao's popularity or hype you may prefer to call:
    1. He is a rookie.
    2. His attitude on and off the court. It seems to me that he is a pretty smart and unselfish person.
    3. Shortage of centers in this league.

BTW, Yao's scoring will never match SF's, not even close. Cat will score more than Yao also if we don't modify the playbook. But it's really not the point. Impact on the court and contributions to the team are the most important, IMO.

yes, please stop turning this into a Yao versus everyone board. There are some Yao-only fans, but get real, you think the Rockets actually care whether or not we cher for Yao or the entire Rockets team? So lets stop this silly cleanse the BBS crusade, and stop comaplining about everything.

Yao needs a high passing backcourt to compliment him,not scoring.

Come on Jeff, haven't you figured it out by now? Steve is in the midst of an evil plot to completely ruin Yao Ming's career...His latest step is faking a back injury (very hard to diagnose and document), thus forcing Yao to try and do too much and tiring him out even more. That damn Mobley came in and scored 29 against the Grizzlies, though, so Steve must be wondering where exactly Mobley's alliegences lie, with him or with the team...
