I read somewhere recently that you have to use the 'cloth/reusable bags' something like 150 times to offset pollution you would otherwise commit using plastic bags. It also mentioned that the reusable bags on average, are only used about 50-something times.
So if you factor in washing said reusable bag every time and recycling plastic bags for home use, are plastic bags actually greener? :grin:

I hate that my local Kroger does not have a place to return used plastic bags AND our recycling program(which takes damn near everything else) wont take them either. I understand the need to recycle what we can, but why make it a total pain in the ass to do so? WE have reusable bags, but I rarely remember to take some with me when I go. I also put raw meats in the small bags they provide in the meat section, people wouldnt be getting sick from bacteria if they would take that simple step to keep raw meat juice from dripping into their bags.
