I've been away from Houston for a while now and I can't follow the Rockets on a day to day basis anymore, but I don't understand why so many of you are stressing so much. So what!? the Rockets are not a contending playoff team yet, Francis was drafted three years ago, Cuttino four, Eddie two, and Yao is a rookie. What the hell do you people expect? A 50+ plus win team, after so few years, and with the competitivess and balance of power there exists today in the league (especially in the West). This is not an easy thing to build. No disrespect to any of you experienced posters on cc.net, but don't jump the gun on Rudy T or Francis, Yao, Mobley or Griffin. I know today everyone wants results as quickly as possible, but that's just not realistic, especially in sports. Let's just give it some time and see how it goes.

They have the ability as well as the talent to make it to the playoffs. The Rockets need the playoffs for experience, so that is why so many people are stressing success. The only way they will grow is if they succeed, otherwise they will just be a team like the Clippers with "potential."

Oh, and by the way, I think that the Rockets have the ability to go to the playoffs, but like Old Man Rock said, Good advice. Some of the posters here are wayyyy to negative and expect wayyyy to much. All I expect is them to get in the playoffs:) .

Tell Francis to stop "growing" his turnovers...

    Francis TO rookie year: 4.0
    Francis TO this year: 4.0

    Francis AST rookie year: 6.6
Francis AST this year: 6.0 (oops, that's shrinking).:p

    True,

We have so much talent on this team that it stresses us for not making the playoffs. Especially when it was thought that the team would have made it last year before the season started. And of course being a huge Rockets fan, we want to see the team that we enjoy so much getting to the top like the old days. We stress cause we love this team :D

    Go Rockets!

I think part of it is that with the talent on this team, we should be a lock to be in the playoffs. But forget that for a second. What bugs a LOT of us I think is that we've lost so many games that we should have won. And I'm not talking games like the 20T loss to LA or the loss to Dallas or our early-season loss to Phoenix. I'm talking losing to the Clippers, Bulls, Heat, Grizzlies, etc. There is no reason we should lose as many games as we have to those sub-.500 teams. If we would have won half of those tic-tac games, we'd be thinking about playoff positioning right now, not just getting in.

Maybe a reasonable consolation for us all should be to remember that this team is very young (no matter what anyone thinks, it's the truest thing you can say about these Rockets) and that if we show a little faith in this organization, in Rudy T, and the plans for future growth they've invested in, then we will reap rewards in the future. No one in the NBA makes it overnight... surely not in such few years. I don't mean to criticize anyone who posts here, I just wish Rockets fans could exercise a bit more patience. Good things come to those who wait. (and to those who love their team in times of need and times of doubt)

You can drive a car with your feet, but that don't make it right.

Just because this team can be good, doesn't mean we shouldn't trade or change coaches. We can be better. Some players just don't fit in, and Rudy may not be the best coach for this team. I'm not saying that's definitely the case, but we shoudn't rule it out if we see something very wrong, like unbelievable inconsistency for example.

    To Vengeance,
I agree that with the talent on this team we shouldn't lose against teams as you have mentioned (that on paper seem less talented as the Rockets). However, I have come to believe that in any team sport, no matter how talented any one team may be, one single match is decided on a mixture of motivation, followed by pure luck (which must be true for basketball), and lastly by talent. This is on any given day. Sometimes you have a bad day, others you get lucky. Some years you just get...unlucky. Some successful teams of the past had more than their fair share of painful seasons. I mean, we waited 30 or so years in Houston for the first major ball championship in the city's history, why should we expect such competitiveness from these young pups? As a Rockets fan today, maybe not as avid as you, I like to watch these guys fly high...but don't I expect clutch performances. (because that's what it takes) Maybe you have higher standards than I. Congrats for your optimism, and I know we both wish for the best.

I agree with your first line.
Changing it a bit, I also think that people expect/want to see the "good team" of today, not tomorow....because tomorow will never come, it will always be tomorow.

    ........confused yet?:p
