Hakeem has said several times over the years, that he chose Spalding because: manufacturing particulars (the committment to content and "non-sweatshops" production), a previous relationship with some of the management team (promotional and Spalding), etc .... But the biggest reason: they offered a good quality shoe at an affordable price. Nike may make a good quality dog, but as to affordability ........... well, NBA star brand name price tags are hefty, to say the least.
